It usually gets cheaper the further out from the city centre you go so maybe there's some bargains to be had in Partick or just south of the river out Eglinton Street or Victoria Road way.
The Quarter Gill on Dumbarton Rd at Hyndland Street gets good reviews for pie and a pint type deals. |

The Gig Guide might be your best bet for that. It's available in lots of pubs and clubs and it's online too.
gigguide (all one word) and it's a dot co dot uk
Live music and cheap beer don't often go together. Someone's paying for the band. |

99.9% of bands in Glasgow are actually paying for themselves.
Pubs and clubs in and around Glasgow operate a Pay to Play policy
King Tuts charge £150
13th Note £30 but you get it back if you spen more than £30 behind the bar.
Have been around the Glasgow Rock Scene since 1999 and even organised a "Fuck your Pay to Play Policy" as its ripping off young bands.
To this day we are still being charged large amounts just to play a gig. We are allocated a number of tickets to try and recuperate our costs, but how many students etc have a spare £5 mid month for a gig especially if it falls midweek.
If your into Rock music try 13th Note, Nice'n Sleazy's, Rockers, etc all have websites and gig guides.
Other pubs incl. The Vale outside Queen St station, The Cosmopol etc all do live rock music |
