just wondered, there are loads of singles on here, I love to get away to the sun, but find its very exspensive to travel alone. I want to go to Benidorm in june, anyone fancy sharing the cost and coming with me ?.

mmmm I thought I might get a few comments on this, not just to join me, but maybe a few ideas what others do when going alone and how they feel.

I've travelled alone a lot. If you're single, you've got money to splash

My last trip was a mini christmas eurotrip, italian cities then Berlin. Now I'm hiring a car and touring scotland alone.

Spain and Belgium in June...

When needs must! ...and get to meet single women along the way, haha

Wish I could afford a holiday full stop! Either alone or with a friend!

Finances will see me staying firmly in Scotland this year lol.

But if you do decide to go it alone I'm sure you will be fine, I always find people very chatty on holiday. Get chatting by the pool and people will remember you when they see you at the bar or at dinner and it won't take long til they invite you to join them. And just remember if you're on holiday by yourself, you won't be the only one. There will be others in the same boat looking for company

Been away a couple of times by myself, luckily always been places where people are friendly and chatty. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again, great not having to make any compromises

Thinking about going away for the first time on my own. Can't get the same dates as friends. Been looking at a singles hotel abroad with trips and excursions and things to do.

Just book into regular hotels, people are chatty at breakfast. Excursions are generic, but they are also nice way to meet people. Just be a tourist.

I find hotels aren't very expensive anyway, just have to really look around. Many do a single discount too.

Plus, there might be fabbers where you're traveling

I always travel alone. Try looking for places that charge per room instead of per person. Also, if you are prepared to do some homework you can get a good deal.

My trips so far this year Milan, Venice, Florence. Flight to Milan was only £56 return.

Kraków 2 weeks ago - 2 bed apartment for £59 for 5 nights.

First year I lost my wife I travelled alone to Hawaii where we got married

it was strange at first eating, dining, drinking on my own but conversation always starts at the bar

It was good to reflect on happy times, many sad moments but I found I was at peace with myself

When my last marriage went tits up, I had to get away, jumped in the car with a "few" clothes and drove, ended up just south of Bordeaux on a campsite at the end of the holiday season, BEST holiday ever, cheap, peaceful, very warm, fantastic food and wine and yes even some pleasurable company. Doing it again this year but will be a little more prepared!!

I'm very sorry for your loss.

Although it's lovely to hear that you were able to make that trip and enjoy those memories, although I can't even begin to imagine how incredibly difficult it must have been.

I wouldn't feel confident enough to do it.

When I went, I had no idea what I was doing and I think that's the key, if you think about it, you'll convince yourself of all the reasons not to do it.

In my humble opinion, just go for it, we're all different I know but you'll never know unless you try.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
