So I've seen lots of gym threads pop up recently and props to the folks that do it: ladies love 'dem abz!
I too would love a body that looks like it's been chiselled by God himself, however I find myself coming up with loads of excuse about time, costs of gym membership, lack of nutrition knowledge etc that essentially boil down to "I can't be arsed with all that", so figured I'd start another thread for those of us that are interested in being more healthy but can't be arsed.
I recently invested in one of those watches that measures your steps, and made the executive decision to replace the sugar in my 20-a-day coffee habit with stevia tablets from Asda. Aiming for the 10,000 steps (actually easier than it sounds) but not beating myself up if I don't hit it. In the last 2 months I've lost 10kg, and I'm a happy camper because of it.
TL;DR version: bin sugar as much as you can, take the stairs from time to time, maybe walk to the local shop instead of firing up the car and boom: you will lose some weight.
Dominos continues to be my kryptonite though.....
Anyone else have any stories or tips for the lazy among us? |

"very simple
no pain / no gain
10 kg is a fair lot of weight to lose in a week, good on you though, lets hope it stays off
2 months for that loss"
apologies / misread |

Couple of years ago (admittedly I was in a more active role than I am now), I cut out fizzy juice (pop/ soda whatever you all call it), crisps, caffeine and bread. Lost two stone pretty quickly.
Put one and a bit back on and it's a bugger to shift it any lower with the hours/ eating habits and times I have presently.

I went to see my GP beginning of December with bad headaches.
Got hypertension and was out on meds to control my blood pressure. Middle aged man with a family history of heart disease.
Try changing your lifestyle a wee bit.
Son bought me a Fitbit for Xmas,
Now I'm a former semi-pro boxer and martial artist and I hate those poser gyms with a vengeance.
So I synced my Fitbit with my PC worked out my calorie intake per day with the Fitbit Database yes it tells you the calories in a Greggs pie an stuck to the 10,000 steps per day.
I take in approx 1,000 calories per day and I burn anything from 2,000-2500
I was just under 15 stone at Xmas I now weigh 12st 10lbs and my target is to lose the last 10 pounds. I set those targets for my birthday in mid April and did it.
I haven't done any weights, sit ups etc at all. Stuck to walking a minimum of 10k steps per day. I live on the top floor of a block of flats that are 3 floors high.
I use public transport and get off the bus a stop or two before my usual stop.
Food and drink,,,, I eat the same just cut the portions, I have introduced fish into my diet that I never ate before.
Coffee,,,,,yes when working in a stressful environment I was hitting 12-15 cups a day, that has been reduced to 4 and I don't take milk or sugar. I have replaced this with water.
Best of luck |

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about. Britain would be a less chubby place if everyone just did the small changes. |

No I'm not starving and yes I feel great.
I eat 3 meals per day and drink plenty of water where I may have drank or coffee.
Breakfast for instance. I used to skip this until I found the body needs to kick start itself to burn so I started with
Porage and toast until I discovered my both were taking up almost half my daily allowance so now I start the morning with a bowl of porage and a cup of black coffee equals 150 calories.
Allows me to balance the rest between my next two meals
I don't snack between meals unless I'm out for a long walk where I will take an energy bar or especially a snickers bar for sugar rush and protein. These I've burned off before tea time. After my main meal at night I fast until breakfast
It's all about balancing your food intake and eating stuff that is rich in goodness but with less calories.
Fruit and veg are prime examples, rich in vitamins and minerals with next to nothing in calories. Fish, chicken and the odd bit of red meat.
I steer clear of fast foods, crisps, carbonated water or juice ie , Irn Bru etc.
I had a serious alcohol problem whenI was younger but been on the wagon longer than I was on it so I don't drink.

I've been using my iPhone to track my steps. At work I'm averaging 10000-15000 daily. Seems like an easy way to stay fit if you can get paid at the same time.
Don't want the body of Adonis......it's never going to happen lol. But trying to keep the dad bod healthy |

Hi peeps, new to the forums. I hit a big birthday a few years and decided to change my life. Dropped 6 stone and haven't looked back. Took in a personal trainer and ate sensibly, nothing dramatic. Since then, I've gone on to enjoy 'lifting' and do so 4 times a week. And first amateur comp this weekend. It's about headspace too, a sense of wellbeing. Good luck to all trying hard. You can do it!! |

Get an extremely physical job and when body and will can be bothered while at work, put in 100% effort.
Then when you come home at night you can bask in the entitled glory of being a lazy bastard, while you chill with your feet up watching Netflix. |

Some people go to the gym but don't have the gym body, but do it for other reasons like mental health. I suffered from depression years back and working out is the only way I keep it at bay. I'd much rather work out than go on medication. |

My dad and me are both naturally skinny guys, I eat so much crap, my Dr calls me a Sofi (Skinny Outside, Fat Inside). Luckily I'm in a job where I have to pass a yearly fitness test so I go running once a week. 3 years ago I left my ship and was drafted to a royal marines unit to serve attached with them, these guys don't run in trainers unless they're doing circuits, which was a big culture shock to me and my trainer loving ways. Still after a year of booted runs, I did my fitness test (the navy one is run in trainers) and my feet felt so light compared, I'd managed to knock a whole minuet off my personal best of running a mile and a half. Now if only I could find a way to ween myself off the bacon, sausage and egg butties washed down with a bottle of for breakfast! |

In trend with the theme of the thread, I did have a work mate who used to lie on his bed with one of those gym body 8 devices, electrocuting himself while watching films, guzzling pop and eating junk! |

I had one of them years ago only good for sex games. Place pads on lady's lower abdomin and inner thighs and switch on, electrical currents drive them wild.
Some good solid advice above, the Marine training yes I'd swear by that except I used to run wearing boots carrying a slightly weighted back-pack. Ran 10k per day for 10 years especially in the hills.
Now my knees are fucked and stepping off a kerb especially in winter can cause dislocation.
The lady with depression.....I am with you there I threw away my meds because they made me worse. Set of headphones plugged into my iPhone and off I walk for an hour. I also do meditation, Chi kung and tai chi, and yoga for suppleness and mindfulness
I have also recently become a Reiki-Sekhem master.
However everyone has their own mechanism for dealing with their demons.

I have not long got a fitbit watch and app and it's very helpful to keep track of stuff and if you're a bit off targets I've seen myself going for a walk to hit them. So it's a good idea. |

Good point - I do both. While we're talking about mental health, I hope noone in the thread is beating themselves up about their body shape. In my experience how someone moves and inhabits their body has a way bigger impact on my level of attraction than specific physical characteristics. |

Find. Sport or physical activity that you really enjoy, then you don't feel that it's a hardship to drag your carcass to the gym.
Just using a running machine/cross trainer/cycle machine etc get boring pretty quickly. |

Don't matter if you go to gym or not, if you eat loads and the wrong stuff then chances are you will be big.. A lot of folks are too self conscious to go to a gym, a gym isn't needed in most cases. You can do activities in your home or outdoors wherever you feel comfortable get your diet sorted first and foremost, then start to tone up by finding an activity that you enjoy whether it be a solo pursuit or a group thing. A big believer too that a healthy body is a healthy mind |

I find so much mental & physical energy go into work & kids that there's not much left over.
I'd love to get fitter, tone up & just get abit healthier.
Try to walk at least 15/20 mins a day but that's about it at the moment.
No excuse really but do admire those who do mega gym or running time.
