Has anyone done one before?
My friend has had to pull out of a charity one and I eager for me to take her place. Has always been in my bucket list but now I have the opportunity in really scared. Can anyone describe how it really feels |

Done it a few years ago in strathallan ...
Amazing...
Within 7 seconds of freefall you are falling at 120mph.. Roughly. ..
If you like adrenalin.. Go for it... Best 30 seconds of your life... That's all they allow you to freefall.. Once your chute opens and your over the view... It's pretty boring ....

Keep being invited upto strathallan for years, even done work for them but keep shitting myself (I'll admit it I'm scared of heights but only height I'll not die falling from)
It's on my bucket list too so I say go for it and if it's for charity then even more so, I'm sure you'll get a few folk on here sponsoring you too x

Go for it.. Your attached to a professional.. The chutes have built in altimeters and will auto deploy at 1500 feet..
Despite my best afforts my instructor would not test this mechanism... It's for safety apparently not to fuck about with...
Basically it's as safe ai it possibly can be. And an unforgettable experience... |

Yep go for it. I've done a few, mostly military.
One of the best things you will ever do.
What type of jump is it?
Static line or tandem freefall?
You can do an assisted freefall but, only after a few static jumps. Well, it used to be

It is amazing. The freefall is the best part. Although when the chute opens and you're slowly falling to earth, I dare say its a little boring, as you can do nothing but take in the scenery.
Definitely worth the experience though, go for it. |

I've only done static line , sport and military. I've had a few moments too including a failed chute but still here to tell the tale.
Take from me jumping out a plane at 800ft is scarier than 2000 |

Did a couple of static line jumps many years ago..... just an awesome feeling... First jump was for charity, second was just because the first was so amazing... Trained all day saturday, sunday morning, then jumped on the sunday afternoon... best thing i have ever done but don't think I have the guts to do it now |

First Question?
Are you doing a Tandem or Static Line?
I suspect it will be a tandem and this is definitely the best choice for first jump
reasons for this;
*You will exit at 10,000ft or more, ideally 12,000 if conditions are right
* You will enjoy 7,000ft of freefall with your tandem master opening the canopy at 5,000ft where you will experience further flight under canopy with safe landing
* you will have a guy like myself jump with you & your tandem master, with a video recorder filming your launch from the plane right down to landing when you touch the ground, this will be down loaded with your choice of music added.
.
If you enjoy; which you will
.
You will have the option of continuing
with either Static Line (which I do not advise)
or
AFF
AFF is the best way to get into freefall skydiving, and you can achieve your "A" License after 8 jumps
Strathallan does not do AFF and I can tell you the politics why they don't, but I wont.
The best way to learn is flying out to Spain or USA with your instructor & 3 other students and you will be guaranteed 2 jumps per day (4 students remember) and you will achieve your "A" License within 4 days, you will also be taught how to pack and you will have the time of your life.
If you mail me direct, I will answer any question you have on sky diving, whether it be best ways to learn, canopy control, freefly, sitfly, formation, or simply what to wear and what to bring for your first tandem experience
Strathallan is a good DZ but you will sit around for weeks if not months waiting for a weather slot
The majority of experienced jumpers now fly abroad for guaranteed weather at well run clubs
.
.
what ever you chose, enjoy.

"I'd like to try it without the parachute"
This has been done many times now, jumping out without a rig and lining up with another plane and getting back in
The legend - Patrick de Gayardon, was one of the first, infact I believe he was the first I had the privilege of being on same lift as him in Deland fl, he was a true gentleman
RIP Patrick.
