Falkirk

I was cleaning the upstairs landing cupboard where B keeps all his bike gear and put helmet on the floor. My youngest son thought it was a ball and threw it down the stairs (which are made of marble).

It looks ok but I have a paramedic friend who rides bikes and he always said if you drop your helmet or bash it you should get a new one as it could be damaged and fail in an accident.

I've googled the make and can get one online but its pretty pricey.

General consensus is I'd it's been banged or dropped hard enough you shouldn't wear it, just incase it's created a weak spot in the internal foam. The outer shell could look perfect, but it's whether there's been compressed enough to cause damage inside that you can't see

Don't chance it! What's the price of a loved one over a helmet...it might be a few hundred but...you know the answer. put it down to one of lifes lessons.

It's the same advice with children's car seats.

But just saying, check and see if he has a big insurance policy first

"Just use a bit of duct tape to reinforce it "

I remember the days of LC's, Katana and GS, in these days when you came off, you picked yourself back up, scraped the concrete off your helmet and put it back on

today is a different story

He said not to worry. Apparently if I donate it to the local ambulance or fire station they use it for head trauma training as it might get cut open.

Got an email back from him he is not to bothered just gives him an excuse to shop for a new one.

LOL brings back sore memories, in a day where the only safety gear we wore was an old helmet.

It is fancy lol but had to build gates either end to stop the wee one going up and down himself. Had to put netting up round banister on the top floor so now looks like a helideck on an oilrig.
