Random acts of Kindness

The way things are with jobs and finances, people being homeless and food banks on the rise society and morale is a little shit just now.
What random acts of kindness have you do or have you seen recently?
My one recently was the girl that worked in the supermarket, saw an elderly man struggling with his trolley and his list. Took the trolley and list off him, got her colleague to sit him down and away she went to do his shopping. I honestly thought this was amazing! |

I gave away my iPhone, headphones and laptop last week in Paris to a nice Chinese lady who took them from the cab of my bus. Very decent of her. Must have looked untidy just sitting there.

There's also a lovely girl on my Facebook that Iv known for years who buys lunch for a homeless guy every Friday. It's just the small things that make such a difference |

There's a genuine homeless guy in Falkirk and whenever I'm in town with my kids and we see him, they always ask if we can buy a coffee and sandwich for him.
My younger son was in P7 and went on a trip with the school to Edinburgh. They saw a homeless guy in his late teens. The kids went into the shop to buy a drink but my son went into the little coffee shop next door, bought a coffee, walked out and handed it to the guy in front of his classmates and teachers.
How do I know? Because the teachers then bought josh a drink and called me after school to say how wonderful they thought he was 
I was a very proud dad that day |

Myself and my daughter go into town on a Saturday afternoon and we chat to the guy who sells the big issue outside Costa in sauchiehall st. Sometimes I can afford to get him a coffee or something to eat or buy but I think he just likes that we ask how his day has gone. (Money has been tight for the past couple of months or else I'd buy him something every time). |

There's a homeless guy walks about my village, people give him rammy bottles but that's about it. He was sitting outside ma local CO op so I went in bought him 2big bottles of irn bru, 3 of those sandwich things that cost £2.30 each & a packet of 10 Mayfair.
Took them out to him and the cheeky fucker aked me for a tenner for drink! A laughed at the time and said no but honestly pissed me aff a bit coz I spent over £10 on him & am not working and never got a thank you.
But anyhoo aye makes ye feel good doing something |

 aww bless...how lovely to know your example is rubbing off on your kids already. I definitely take my charitable giving gene from my parents who I grew up seeing helping anyone in need...it's ended up a legacy in that myself and my siblings are all regular in giving charity and most of us sponsor kids  |

I found a ladies watch after she left my shop, I knew where she was going next, tracked her down and returned it. She told me it was her late husbands last gift that he got her and it was the only thing she had left that reminded her of him. He'd passed away years previously, and the lady was in her 80's.
The wee soul came round an hour later with a wee box of chocs for me.

Theres a homeless guy who stands outside the starbucks outside my work every morning and every Friday i get him a porridge and coffee.
Such a nice guy and genuinely so thankful - a few weeks ago on payday my mate gave him a tenner and he looked like he was going to cry. Told us he was going to spend it in world buffet and eat like a king that night(he doesnt drink)

This is the way to do it though, especially when kids are there. I have a boy and a girl who like most young kids have hearts of gold, no matter how small the gesture you can afford to make its still teaching them the right ways to act. Plus, a small gesture to us lucky ones could infact make someone's day.
On the subject of small gestures, has anyone heard of Dymagate on Instagram? Go look!!! |

I don't do RANDOM acts of kindness
As a practicing Buddhist who does voluntary work with the Citizens Advice, vihara and local food bank Metta or loving kindness is a natural way of life for us |

I'm off to thailand and Cambodia in a couple of weeks. I always feel happiest when there and I think it's partly to do with the Buddhist culture. Namaste |

I do as much as I can to help other's though I never really feel comfortable talking about it as I do it for my own reasons rather than to get praise or recognition from other's,I'm passionate about impacting a positive change in the lives of others and doing my part to make the world a better place,I believe that we all have an obligation to help each other as we're all one big family |

Im rather similar to "Ninja" in relation to recognition or praise ..I just do it.
Ive seen many acts of kindness over the years..
My Policy is ..
The only time you should be looking down on someone ..
Is when you are helping them up

the only time you should be helping someone up is when they're not looking down on you as I've had the misfortune to have helped countless folk in a variety of ways who it seems have had a considerably lesser opinion of me than I of them despite the fact that I've never hesitated to rush to their assistance when everyone else they've known have been reluctant....you live and you learn...these days I tend to help those worthy of help more so than just going out of my way to help every tom,dick and Larry who are happy to take what they can get and turn around and burn you for your kindness...people are strange.....I'll help anyone...I'm just to wise to the wicked ways of men so as to not get myself embroiled in any complex web of madness with negative minded individuals positivity = progress....positive thoughts equate to positive actions and positive actions tend to have a positive knock on effect it's something I could speak all night about lol x |

I recently saw a female whos' car had broken down in the outside lane at a set of traffic lights in the pouring rain.
As everyone else drove around her blasting their horns, I parked up, got out and pushed her to the side of the road and waited until I knew help was on it's way.

During the big snow of 2010 when we all came grinding to a halt my central heating broke ....After calling every heating engineer in book and freezing cold I found one on same estate as me ....
I spoke with his Mrs who sent him round when he got in as he lived in next street . I expected to pay a fortune for this but .....
He fixed my heating and refused any money saying no charge keep warm.
What a truly lovely act of kindness

There is a random cat that comes to visit sometimes. He or she isn't a stray because they have a collar and aren't skinny but I gave him or her some catnip as a treat. They said meow which means thanks in cat language...And I gave a guy his keys yesterday because he hadn't realized he dropped them. He seemed a bit out of it... |

All these acts of kindness are making me so emotional. If jim,ll fix it was still on id ask him but all you kind people,can anyone with a big heart help my dundee united or is that a bridge to far. Please help. |

Same, I done this last week. There's an Easter egg collection point in an Aberdeen shopping centre, it's a great idea!! The best part is seeing just how many there are, so much kindness and willingness to donate. Amazing people! |

I'm wary about giving money to some homeless folks in Glasgow because they're part of a circuit type thing, eg I seen a guy sitting beside a bin on Saturday outside Subway on Sauchiehall St, I went into Subway and was eating when I saw 2 guys go to the guy by the bin, he stood up and they had a conversation, then one of the other guys sat down and the original guy walked off with the other one. 
My heart does go out to the genuine homeless people out there, but things like I saw on Saturday, plus some other things, make it difficult for me to part with my much hard earned cash.
