Glasgow

We're not from there (sorry) but it's our favourite place in the whole world. It's so beautiful. Leave something in the tank for the kick at the end of the Bealach Na Ba - it's longer than you think even when you know it's longer than you think!

We might see you on Strava

Thanks for the replies, yes looking forward to it i cycle a lot but it still looks a good challenge, what's the best time of year to avoid the dreaded midge's!! I cycled from Aviemore right across to the Cape Wrath lighthouse a few years back and that was one of the best cycle trips ive ever had. I towed a trailer behind mtb with all my camping gear....thank goodness for the granny ring and disc brakes but the midges were a pain!

Avon skin so soft, it's best thing to keep the midges from nibbling (pink lid bottle)

The whole of the north west highlands is a Mecca for cycling and walking, you'll have an excellent time. As previously mentioned the Belach na Ba is a significant climb and you should get in the hill training now. Another thing to remember is that one day everything can be tranquil then the next could be a maelstrom. Don't be put off just pack for every eventuality and you'll have an amazing time.

Who else is on Strava here I also use it to record my efforts?

I dont use Strava it wont work on windows phone so i use Map my ride instead. I will prob bring my road bike and cyclocross bike for if its wet or i fancy some off road. I just need a nice busty Scottish lady to rub me down in my cottage every night

Thought I should update this post. I did the trip and the cycling was fantastic! Did the Applecross climb 3x twice the normal well known side and once up from Applecross side. The toughest climb I've ever done but with a 42x11 bottom gear it was a killer, note to self...lower gears next year The coast road was just beautiful, sadly I didn't find any Scottish busty beauties to enjoy it with...maybe next year

Applecross is an amazing place and still to cycle it but have climbed the cliffs at the side of the bleach and on the surrounding mountains. Of course also up and down a few times on my motorcycle, never tire of going there
