"Is it a Scottish thing?
I've never paid enough attention lol I love making it though. So yum!
Ok, so is it or isn't it? Arrrgggghhh
If it sticks to your ribs then it's Scottish "
And you're supposed to be the clever sensible one!!! |

"Have I missed something?
Is it really Scottish??????
I thought it was dreamt up by a vegetarian "
Given lentils aren't inherently Scottish I don't think it's 'scottish' per say. Probably adopted. Lentils being the base, I'll have a stab at middle eastern origin.
Certainly used to be meat based when I was a kid, ham/ bacon etc but obviously with the increase in veggies (like moi) it's lost the meat content over the years.
Ma tuppence.

I'm sure you could place it in a drawer, porridge style, and deep fry the mass at a later date. No saying it would be Braw in any shape or form right enough.

My bf's old favourite soup was heinz scottish vegetable and lentil. Think I asumed lentil soup was scottish because of that.
They stopped making it years ago so he makes his own it was tge first non processed food he ever eat.
This week he's making lentil and fennel soup but I'm giving it a miss.

"Can some one send me a recipe for this xx"
When he makes lentil soup he just buys a scottie brand soup pack, disolves around 4 ham stock cubes in a litre of water, adds 250 grams of dryer lentils and bungs it all in the slow cooker and leaves it for 5 hours. Xxxxx |

Ok, so.......update.
He made lentil soup at school today
Half an onion
Half a carrot
A potato
4 spoons lentils
Water
Salt
Pepper
Ham stock
Cooked it and tasted it - said it was awful
Now, I'm no expert here but I'm pretty sure it can't be done in an hour and a half from start to finish if you expect it to be tasty |

"Mmmmm.............lentil soup!! And even better with a ham base.
Always make mine using a ham hough.
R"
This probably easier to get - princess, get down to your local butcher and have a chat. They will be able to sort one out for you no problem |
