Any fabsters still staying young at heart with nintendo?

Even if not currently, what are your fond memories of past?

Perhaps a fun story to share?

I got my gameboy when I was 12, after saving up all my money. I loved playing zelda all the way down through France as we drove the length of the country on a family holiday.

Then we got a snes, fond memories of sensible soccer / iss tournaments at lunch time from school with my pals at school.

Then the n64, loving 4 player goldeneye with my pals.

I still have all 3 in my living room

I loved my clackers. Remember those little wrist breakers? Probably banned now for health and safety reasons ...quite rightly.

Ah yeah the Gamecube, the purple box of joy, sadly under rated

I started off with and still own an original chunky gameboy. Then the home consoles followed...snes, n64, cube, wii, wiiU

Never went portable until the DsiXL then went 3dsXL

I still have a NES, a SNES, N64, Gamecube and Wii and all the portables but I usually play on emulators running on a raspberry pi or Dolphin on my PC for the Wii and GC.

The pi also does arcade machines, speccy and atari and amiga so I fine for feeling out.

Invest in a retron 5 it's an amazing piece of kit it takes all the original Nes,snes, megadrive and gameboy carts from any region but upscales them to hd uses an hdmi cable aswell also takes the original controller's aswell, original super mario on a 50in hd tv is simply stunning

"Sounds amazing!"

It is mate, it's a great piece of kit, you can also import all the old cheat codes and save points from the Internet and if you still have save games on your carts you can pick up straight from there lol, when I first put in mario all stars all my saves were still intact. Check it out on YouTube mate you'll be impressed

Reply privately, Reply in forum +quote or View forums list

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

Funstock.Co.UK, and type retron 5 in the search bar, that's where I bought mine from, but be careful mate once you buy it you'll end up spending a fortune on ebay buying old cartridge games lol

You could also just get emulators on your lappy

Reply privately, Reply in forum +quote or View forums list

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

Doesn't have that same feeling of nostalgia, dusting off the cart, giving it a good blow, using the original controller's can't beat it. I used to get a lot of problems with the roms aswell, maybe just the emulator I was using though

emulate all.

cheap joypads are easy as fuck..

in sating that..I have an android gaming device..but on my lappy, I prefer using the gamepads i have..but there is a kickstarter usb hub thing that lets u plug in differing system joypads..and allocates them specifically.

I returened to brainlord a few days ago(while at work)..bloody lost myself in what I was supposed to be doing on my last saved game(beauty of most emulators is saving WHEN u want!)

*heads up though on the metroid games I never mentioned..they are some of the classiest games ever..starting with super metroid, fusion and the lovely metroid prime(and prime hunters on ds was amazing)

Ogre battle is another stupendous game!

secret of mana, on the snes..3player rpg..amazing story, amazing game mechanics..

*add chronotrigger as an amazing sequel.

on the n64 is a forgotten or ignored classic, it was fighters destiny..everyone laughed as it was tekken...but it never tried to be

and who can forget killer instinct ? 48hit killercombo an all that shit!

tetrishere on n64..its puzzle mode is astounding!

I suppose my final really might be res evil 4 on the gamecube...stunning graphics and environment..it unfortunately wasnt really zombie orientated..but even the ps/pc tried to emulate the custom graphics of the gc and they failed.

FINAL: playing Link(zeldas hero) as a fully fledged fighter in soul caliber 2 on GC..who cares what other systems got their own character..link was fucking fantastic
