Over in the lounge, Miss Cheeky Chops has started a dating thread, which I'm copying over here for the Scottish contingent 
"So there have been a lot of threads about love and relationships and people wanting to meet like minded people...so I thought I would set up a thread for those who may wish to meet someone and go on a date...it can be a naughty date or it could be bowling...
Before people say it's not a dating site it's a sex site...well no shit Sherlock so if you fancy going on a date just say I'm in and you never know what is around the corner!
Just remember it's a bit of fun on this rather chilly Sunday evening oh and what the heck I'm in..." |

Whatever happened to good old fashioned romance?
Arranging a date on the Monday, looking forward to it all week, the anticipation, constant mind-changes on outfits, nipping out of work a couple of hours early on the Friday to 'get ready', and with no expectation of how the night will end other than the hope of a follow up date the same time next week.
The waiting by the (old style) phone, not being able to see if they are online, on Facebook, have posted twitter/dating site updates, just hours and days of waiting and then it is all worth it for that one phonecall! Then the letter writing if you did start courting! Getting a letter from your GF/BF was amazing!
No pre-learning or internet stalking of them, just a desire and want to find out more about them in person. Holding open doors, pulling out chairs, walking someone home, minding ones Ps and Qs.
How I miss those days.

I absolutely agree with this. It's all got too easy. No one makes the effort anymore.
Too many people are so reliant on life behind a screen that real life interactions are too scary now or seen as too much hassle.

I always equate going on a date with getting to know someone you've not long met. She probably goes out for a meal with her partner. I've not been on a date for years either and yet I'm in a happy marriage. We go out for dinner and have nights out without the kids. Nothing sad about it!! |
