Just had a nosey in the Ireland forum and they had a great thread on love.
What is it and how do you know that someone loves you?

I think you just know... We've had ups and downs which included a small break up and a big one but we always find our way back to each other. Cheesy maybe but it's like when we're together it all just makes sense  K x |

Awww me to. Love to me is your 1st thought in the morning is about the person, your last thought before going to sleep is about the person. Feeling safe and protected and wanting to spend every waking moment with them.
If all that fails you could try the deserted island test. |

I don't believe in it. Having been there myself, I've concluded that part of love is being loved by that person as well. Two way street. It should make you happy, not miserable. |

I believe its something different to everyone. Everyones perception or opinion of what love is being totally specific to them

Love is a feeling of comfort, protection, joy and closeness. Its special knowing your the one they want to be with.
I'm best friends with my husband, we laugh together get angry together and upset together. We are on the same wavelength and want the same things in life. We are enjoying growing old together.
Love isn't a sad feeling.
That's my oppinion on love |

Meant for someone else, but not for me...
Love is out to get me, that's the way it seems, disappointment haunts all my dreams...
I appreciate this is not a subject best addressed by levity, but those three plagiarised melodic lines do rather sum up how loveless and luckless I generally am where the condition is concerned...

I agree with the love is different to everyone statement.
Other couples outside of fab may disagree but what we do here is let others into our love life, share experiences with others. And to some its weird or a form of cheating but to me it shows how much love you have for each other that as a couple we are comfortable enough to try, share different experiences with others. And at the end of it still be happiest with the person you are going home with.

I'm with you on this. It seems everyone else has managed it but not me.
I'm lucky in that I have the best love of all from my 3 sons. It's a love that won't ever die. However I'm still living in hope that one day I'll find my happily ever after.

Love is an unconditional commitment to an imperfect person.
To love someone isn't just a strong feeling it's a decision to be with them.
If your with someone in a relationship or marriage and the love is no longer there get out while your still able to enjoy life with someone who will love you back as much as you love them |

Love to me was being brought up my my 5ft tall mother on her own working hard to look after 5 of us on our own even when she was ill
She was mother and father figure to me i was her last child and i never wanted for anything
She never gave love openly but i knew she loved me and told me the night before she died after i thanked for everything and told her i loved her
Committed unselfish dedicated in this case was love

Can I explain it? Nope. How does it feel? Scary, dizzying, frightening, wonderful... and a million things in between. Its not all rainbows and flowers though, its been a process of learning - about him and about myself (and no he doesn't love me back, but is very fond of me, and for now that is ok) |

Felt. The pain of love once..it was.A joyous rollercoaster ride of euphoria and sadness all in one.When it ended it felt like a part of my life died.which it probably did.Not felt that since.Dont rule it out.just don't think I will ever give my self so deeply to someone again...but I never say. Love is when you miss someone when there away. When you fight it hurts. When they make you laugh when down. Will hold your hair when your been sick. Love is when you would give up your life for them. Love bloody hurts when its over. That's love to me. |
