I'm thinking of getting a lodger, has anybody had any bad experiences, advice, funny stories, where to advertise etc.

I currently have the worst flatmate ever! We havent spoken at all in 4 weeks!

If you can afford to live alone then do not take a lodger

Spareroom.co.uk is pretty good place to advertise.

But make sure you write out a contract and if poss get it checked over - think about utility bills, what facilities will you allow access to and if you need to ask for a deposit. Asking potential lodgers for a reference(pref one you can phone as people are more honest on phone than in writing) is a good idea.

Id be happy to let you have her if you can take her off my hands not sure there is much to look at though unless body builder with resting bitch face is your type

I was a lodger with a great lady. Always a laugh and got on real well.

Came back early from work one day and found her on my bed deeply enjoying her vibe.

Awkward.

My soon to be ex-missus is leaving in about 4 weeks and I was wondering if a lodger is a good idea to help pay the bills. Might cramp my style as want to change my status to "can accommodate "

I've always thought of bringing in a lodger too, I have two spare rooms, but as someone else said, I like my freedom and ability to lounge and laze about, walking about naked when just out the shower and walking to the kitchen etc for new clothes or whatever.. Or just lounging in boxers etc... Plus I've had friends visit and stay over for a week that I've enjoyed the company of, and other friends stay the weekend and have been way too much of a drain...
