What's everyone's thoughts on going on holiday on your own?

Anyone any experience of it good or bad?

I did it years ago, booked a last minute trip to Crete.

Had a lovely time, made friends with other people in the hotel and saw some beautiful sights

I've travelled quite a bit by myself, as far as Peru and Kenya. Although it's nice having company, it's lovely to be completely selfish and do just what you want to do.

I've done it a a few times, love it. Do what you want, when you want without having to consider others.

Thanks for the replies folks. Definitely think I'll go on my own, like the sound of doing what I want, when I want with whoever I want

I went to Cancun last year for my friends wedding we were all in the same resort but I didn't see much of them. I spent most of the time on my own. It was actually lovely. The only thing is I wouldn't recommend a family/couple honeymoon hotel. You do feel a bit like the odd one out after a while.

I'm going away on my own in march for a few days and I can't wait x

I know it's not exactly the same but I travel a lot for work and usually in my own. I've got used to be being on my own in new cities, hotels etc and I love it! Eating alone isn't normally a problem, take a book and you'll be fine!

I honestly really like being in my own when I travel now and I'd be really happy to go on holiday in my own!

Guess I need to find a decent book to read then! Eating alone is my biggest worry but like someone said it's just a case of eating early before family's flood the place

You'll be fine. Find a corner table and get a book. Loads of people eat alone in restaurants.

It was weird when I started doing it but I had to get used to it as I travel so much now for work.

I've been away a couple of times by myself and it hasn't been a problem. Might even head north for september weekend if weather not too bad.
