Ok as we know this snow is causing havock motorways are being closed and cars abandoned services are struggling and trying their best
If you see lights on in a public building thats not usually lit at this time chances are there open to help those thats stuck any blankets and anything warm no matter how little could help someone from babies to the elderly even a loan of a phone so they can let loved ones know they are safe if your able to help in anyway without putting yourselves at risk please do |

There's been a load of people walking up and down the motorways (close to houses) with teas and pieces and stuff
big shout out to them! sure it made a huge difference to a lot of people still in cars.

it is good to help getting shopping for elderly neighbours etc. but sometimes stranded cars is kind of self inflicted i helped push 3 cars on picking kids up from school on what would have been a 15 minute walk. The genuine ones that left for work so early in the morning i felt sorry for stuck on the motarway home. |

Last year I was working in south manchester when they had bad snow (no where near as much as Scotland has now) and helped a fair few people to get going either with a short tow or a push.
But the amount of people that just had their smooth leather soled office shoes on was amazing. They had obviously cleared their cars of snow in the morning and jumped in with no other thoughts. No boots, warm coat or nothing. When I asked a couple of drivers to get their towing eye out so I could tow them away from the junction they were blocked I just got a blank look.
Oh... And funnily enough majority were BMW drivers..... Wide tyres, rear wheel drive, not a hope in the snow.
So, anyone driving in this weather should, like I do carry a minimum of:
Boots,
Warm clothes,
Sleeping bag
Phone charger,
Hot water,
Screenwash,
Spade
Carpet (or car mats to put under tyres for traction)
Keep fuel tank topped up
Torch
I'm sure that's not an exhaustive list but be prepared!
