A house, a very big house in the country

This is something that has alway peeked my interest. I love the beauty of looking at the way the ropes are tied , knotted but have often wondered how easy it to do?

Is there workshop's that as a complete novice can go to?

Any info, tips help on this subject will be gratefully received.

We used to go to the open rope workshops on Sauchiehall Street but I don't know what became of them. Fetlife would be your best bet for them.

Luke and Jack's do/ did a rope workshop but lately we've just bought books and worked from them. The Knotty Boy books, Douglas Kent and Twisted Monk are ace.

Mist riggers were excellent rope tiers but its a dying trade now as you cant certify a rope for lifting anymore

older sea men still have the knowledge

Well Edinburgh has 3 workshop groups and I know of 3 international riggers who call it home.... you might think about looking to go, I find it's best for a hands-on experience

We enjoyed a beginner's workshop, however slightly annoyed that some of the people weren't 'beginners'... Need to get ourselves some books.

We use Fetlife to keep up with any rope workshops/demonstrations going on.
