The young woman who lay in her car for 3 days beside her dead boyfriend after a car accident has died in hospital.

R.i.p to both of them and condolences to both families

Got to wonder how no one saw that. one instance where the new proposed in car crash alarm would have saved a life.

Pretty sad though.

How bad must they be feeling for not stopping. You'd be charged in France for that.

You have to have an expectation that if you notify the emergency services, they'll turn out and attend.

And you can also provide instant life saving opportunities before their arrival and if necessary update the emergency services to the ongoing situation.

We all have a duty here.

There could be any number of reasons why they didn't/ couldn't stop.

The cops failed this couple.

Yes they did. Without doubt. So did those who witnessed it. There's no excuse for not stopping if you see something like that in my _iew.

Even if all you do is give a running commentary to emergency services, it helps. Would certainly have emphasised the urgency on this occasion.

Maybe it's the trucker in me.

They are all excuses. Two people are dead and one could have been saved by that person.

You can only stop on a Motorway if its safe to do so. Going past an incident at 70 + miles with an artic or other road users up your backside doesn't allow you to make a quick maneuverer to get onto the hard shoulder. Not the first time good Samaritans have made a situation worse by their good intentions.

Politics are that this will be put established as an 'individual's' error and not organisational.

Very true. Doesn't need to be a quick manoeuvre though. I'm not defending the police in anyway, shape or form here. They fucked up big time. Just saying the individual saw it important enough to call it in. Could have stopped 100yrds up the road and walked back to check.

Tragic case nonetheless.

No amount of blaming others will get Police Scotland off the hook on this one.

No doubt there'll be much shrugging of shoulders and pointing at Kenny Macaskill.

Its a shame highlights why you should always inform someone of where your going.

as for the police how do you know they didnt respond how vague was the call on location. Sometimes things happen there isnt always someone independant to blame

Guess none of us can point fingers until a full investigation is completed, who took the call, who passed it on, was it passed on

5 why investigation

Sorry but because two people are dead dosnt mean discussion stops. As we sit and write this there are probably lots of folk dying in lots of diffrent ways. That wont get a mention anywhere its healthy to discuss things sometimes it can raise awareness and help stop the same happening in future

Ive stopped on road a good few times this year contacted police via 999, couple of times were due to heavy debris / crates fallen off lorry, an other time due to large amount of deer stuck at location where they were bound to head across A9, give them credit, they did turn up

O o O oo

Can we keep the thread to the subject please.

If you want to start a politics thread then start your own as it is getting tedious and spoiling threads by trying to score points over politics on threads all the time
