personally i think legalising prostitution is the wrong road to go when females start charging for sex the whole thing goes tits up i dont mind buying the odd vodka and but charging for sex is just ridiculous its bad enough passing the mingers on the way home from the town without lagalising it  |

It's one of the oldest professions in the world. While there are of course some using it to fund habits (which they need help with) there are others who do it to earn money to feed a family or to pay bills. We should be doing our best to make it as safe as possible.
Also there are many men and women working in the sex industry because they chose to. They make good money that can't be rivalled in a more conventional job.
Lastly the biggest issue is people who judge so harshly without reason pushing it deeper underground and making it more dangerous |

Actually the definition of a professional is someone who hold a degree or above and who has a regulating body. I.e lawyers have degree and are answerable to the bar. teachers have degrees and are answerable to sssc, hmie.
Therefore alot of people who would say they are professionals are not they just work in a career and display professionalism |

peoples background problems are nothing to do with the issue if someone has problems surly it makes more sense to help with their problems so they dont go down the road of prostitution rather that just legalise it and throw them to the wolfs what next give free smack to junkies  |

While there's men and women in the world, then there will always be sex, legal or otherwise. So at least make prostitution as safe as possible for the girls who choose to live that way. . Their choice of profession shouldn't label them as low life. |

This ^^^ and as per usual the argument focuses on the 'wrong doing' by the female. There is clearly demand, why are they so bad for selling it but those who buy it are judgement free (is it because they're men and when it comes to sex they get to go without judgement?)

I doubt many prostitutes are there through choice. Most have been through the care system. Most are on the streets to pay a habit, pay bills, feed children. If. There wasn't customers there would be not need for them.

I agree and in my opinion just making it illegal will just drive it more underground thus putting the low life aspect of prostitution even further out of sight. The focus should be on dealing with the people trafficking element of prostitution and the criminal gangs who benefit from it. |

I actually read about a book where the woman was struggling...she became an escort made some cash got her life back on track.....it's a great read and an eye opener ....you can understand why she took the option and tells a story of what happened through her journey.....still got it on top of the wardrobe think I might read it again....anyone wanting the name of it give me a shout it's a great book .

It is because we put it on some pedistal that it starts to be treated as a shibboleth test for a good person. If we get away from this "special treatment" we will stop being bothered about prostitution and let people get on with their lives.  |

Should be made as safe as possible. I can't understand why so many people can't see this. I don't think many of them whom stand on street corners have a choice. And to deny them safety because it doesn't agree with your moral's is wrong |

Prostitution is something I personally have no intrest In but for those who prefer sex to be for cash and no human interaction or to pay for interaction why not legalise tax it and make it a safe industry so msny instances of street prostitutes being raped or mugged go unreported because of societys mainstream view of it |

i do believe it should be removed from the streets thou walking throu town at night its shocking how many are openly working the streets its not a pretty sight and dont think anyone should have to see that its not just one or two its crowds of them most if not all drug related guys and lassies was even asked by a female if she could walk to taxi rank in our group because the week before she was dragged down a stair well and robbed by two prostitutes and their junky pal and before the moral stuff starts if you stand on a street corner selling hot dogs you would be arrested in min for not having a permit so why should selling sex be any different |

Yes and No.... In an ideal world, yes, remove it from the streets but will just be pushed underground and risk the lives of the girls who do it. May also increase those under the control of pimps as they will be a go between between punter and girl. If removing it from the streets it needs somewhere to go to where it can be monitored and controlled - which would quite possible mean legalising it (or some aspects of it)
Mind that as the law stands now, its not illegal for someone to pay to have sex, it is however illegal to solicit for payment for sex.

their was a time when parts of town where knows spots for prostitution but you never had any reason to go their now its spiraled all over the city center probably as the drug problem grows so does the amount of people working the street it should at least be contained as someone who likes car fun anyone on here will tell you all known spots in scotland has been destroyed by police sex in public places is not illegal as long as you take steps of common sense so you could argue that if you sit in a car in the middle of no where at two in the morning harming no one your hounded by police but its ok to stand in a corner in a busy city center with the intentions of selling sex for money |
