First visit to after 8 was terrible
Full of undesirables and a pregnant d*unk lady just killed it
I would of fuckedtge bar tender but spoke to her for a bit and wasnt game
Really bad for £60 thinking adult works might kf been more fun lol |

Heres the problem you built it up to be full of models and a three qoman to one guy ratio in your head and it ended up being everyday people as for £60 for nothing you decided to pay that the club was upfront from the get go sorry if your looking to blame anyone blame yourself you decided to give it a try many others do and enjoy it immensly lets face it no diffrent from cjs or any other adult club |

I know of someone who, some years ago, had the temerity to give a poor re_iew of a club, in the 'Clubs' section here. She then received a load of abuse, by a mod no less, and her re_iew mysteriously disappeared!
Her and your experience would suggest that some people can be very protective of 'their' club.
As you say, OP, what happened to free speech? |

Why is it when you give your opinion on something in the forums you get abuse and slagged off for it.
The op has give his opinion and whether we agree or not,and we do by the way,he is entitled to it.

From reading the other forums it appears that some people get very precious about 'their' club and it seems to be fairly common, unfortunately, for any criticism of it to be met with abuse etc. |

we have had a couple of really good Nights at the club ,a couple of bad nights and ok nights so it's a mixed bag for us but we are a couple so totally different _iew of things op , Try a social !! cheap easyish to join in with chat and stuff x |

I think when you start off with comments insulting people like the above, it's rarely going to go well.
I've been a couple of times.. Didn't like it the first time. Tried it again and my opinion didn't change so I won't go back, but I wouldn't slag off the people who were there if I wasn't interested in them.
I've been to CJ's and a couple of clubs in England. Sometimes there's no one there I'm interested in but I've always enjoyed my nights in these places. I didn't enjoy After 8..... Solution... Don't go back |

Well said.
Of clubs, their owners have a livihood to support and a club to run and pay for. From the verifies I've seen and what I've heard, there seems to be very little quality control in who goes to any club.
I'm not calling into question the op's honesty but I've heard too that each of the club's supporters do visit other clubs just to then give damming re_iews. |

I am regular at after 8 and yes it was an unfortunate incident but that female had been brought in by a guy - basically a random off the street. Have attended other clubs too and found them to be different but as some one said above it is run as a business. Some of the other "clubs" can afford to be more picky about who they let in as they are not strictly a business. Some have tried and failed.
This club may not be for the OP so good luck to him in finding another that meets his expectations. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Have a great day. |

I have been to a few clubs. I think we should try and give them all a bit of support. I have met a lot of good people at them. I am not the best looking or the tallest guy in Scotland and I can understand any woman that does not want a short man. Each to their own. I am older and wiser anyone that knows me that I love and respect women all types. I dont go out with the expectation that women will fall at my feet or the expectation that I will get sex. That is the problem with a lot of men in here and when they go to the clubs they do. Some men are selfish and dont even know how to have sex properly or even make love properly. I can understand why some women feel its like a cattlemarket. It should not be like this. There has still to be an attraction.I have always have enjoyed After Eight or CJ's it is also a safe enviroment for me. As I know no guy is going to batter me for being short. You have to respect each other and especially the Ladies. I enjoy the chat the company and if am really lucky lol my lovers lol.Thanks to my lovers I remeber you all lol. I am always available and not desperate at 4ft 8. lol. Support your clubs and respect the women.

Been to the club once, I sat in the corner feeling self conscious, had a couple of drinks and started chatting then had a great time - I didn't do anything with anyone but it was friendly. Is Not full of super models, if it was I'd head home as I'm no model myself. As with any club, I imagine, it can be hit and miss.
The only thing that puts me off from going back is the £60 fee. |

If you don't like his opinions don't read it. The club re_iews and forums are subjective. Some folk think it all has to be positive cos it's their club. One bad re_iew and numerous positives to hide it. What's to be scared of? Truth hurts...... |

Been a few times and like any club, it is what you make of it. Granted those in the club can make or break a night which is one reason we avoid certain places now as sometimes some of the punters think they own the club but that's another story altogether.
Clubs need new faces and less drama, if clubs ain't your thing then why not organise a private party? If you don't now enough on here for a party then maybe try the clubs again until you know more friendly faces

I also think if this club was based in Glasgow it would be better attended ...for some reason Edinburgh is behind on the times which is sad because it's a fantastic city....not much in Edinburgh takes off ....but Glasgow thrives....
Would nice to see Edinburgh thriving like Glasgow

As far a i mind £60 is entry fee and membership for life or a year but don't quote on that 1 check it out with a quick little message to club and they will put everybody right .plus i av been in club as a single but was taken into club by some one who attended the club a lot so was a bit easier for me to chat to people as friend introduced me and i found it cool . Just my 2p worth |

I didn't enjoy my visit to After 8. It was close to Christmas about three years ago. Lacked atmosphere for me.
On the other hand I have been to CJs once and loved it. Better layout, more like a house party and much more fun. |

Hmmm it has been pretty interesting to read all the comments here. It really is a matter of opinion, totally subjective based on each person's own experiences. I've been to After8 quite a few times (only ever paid £60 once and then £40 thereafter) and yeah in terms of sex it has been hit and miss... but when I finally got the balls to actually talk to people like they were human and not expect anything from them then things got better. Have had some wild times and some extremely quiet times but that's life eh? As for CJ's, I've really enjoyed my times there too - it is busier and maybe a wider variety of 'types' there but there's loads of possible reasons for that - the discreet location, the size of the facility, etc. Anyway, I do know that it would be great to have a club scene to rival London up here but for now we'll have to enjoy what we've got eh? To each their own! |

Ok so your first visit wasn't to your liking as said before you'll know just not to go back again.
You are entitled to your opinion of course and one persons opinion cannot and should not put you off if anyone has doubts about the club you will only find out for yourself I do how ever find it difficult to believe there was a d*unk pregnant lady there as I would have thought the club would not allow this or am I wrong??

I've been to after 8 a few times now. The first time I went I wasn't sure if I liked it or not because it was quite small and there wasn't many people. I went a few times after that and it was busier and much more lively. It is different everytime. Yes there is regulars who go but each time there generally is different people. It is what you make it sometimes. If you go in with a stuck up attitude thinking you are better than others by saying " undesirables" then what do you expect really. All the people who have been once and then decided that it's rubbish because on that particular night they went it wasn't good doesn't really justify that it should be said that it's rubbish. The staff at the club are working on changing it from feedback from people who go and have made changes. Maybe rather than all the negative comments suggestions could be given to after 8 staff on how to make the club better would be an option. As for the pregnant woman being brought off the street with a member why is it not ok for her to be in a swingers club??? Who are we to say that it's disgusting she was d*unk? She's a grown adult and if she wants to harm her unborn child by drinking then that's a decision she has made after 8 staff aren't going to preach to her their own personal values about how alcohol isn't good for her baby are they. This site is terrible for being so negative and judging people because of our different values and experiences in life. This sort of comment will have now put so many people off going to after 8 and not try it now which is a total shame. I doubt the club even makes much profit some nights. They are there for us and I'm sure we will all soon be moaning if there is no club in edinburgh. The club should be tried a few times before a conclusion is made by each individual  |

As i am taking quiet abitof abuse i think once my membership is finish i am quietting the site.
As for the comments above
I ve been to cjs and it has a far better atmosphere and sorry if me going to a club in shirt and blazer is wrong but i prefer to meet people that look after themselfs
As for the lady maybe she wasnt but she was very skinny with a large bump and was quiet d*unk while both myseld and the bar tender where chatting to her and she was shouting and swearing at any guy that turned her down including myself.
People need to calm down and talk a step back. There are alot of people that are very aggressive on a keyboard. I hope that your not like that in real life

So it's ok to see a woman smoking when pregnant??? Or is that ok because it is seen more often?? Everyone is obv going to have their own personal belief and values about this so not going to get in a big debate about what a pregnant woman should and shouldn't do at end of day she choose to do that and their could be many reasons as to why that woman was d*unk. |

Yup we should all conform to our lords and masters prescribed living plans any deviation should be stamped on by the masses........ happy swinging...... alot of folk seem to forget it was ok to drink and be pregnant before we were born whos to say this wasnt an isolated incident with the female due to nerves as for the I wear a blazer and trs shows nothing you tried to tempt an emplyee away from her work to have sex with you not exactly wonderful behaviour as for cjs is so much better nonsense they are both places that generate huge profits for doing very little lets face it they are nothing more than house partys with adult toys those who like these things enjoy them after eight or cjs makes no diffrence its the folk within make it |

Because people have different _iews on smoking and pregnancy and _iewing these actions by the club allowing her to come In a drink can ruin the reputation no one wants to be ina establishment where immortals are been done I am not even sure I'm believe there was a d*unk pregnant lady there in the first place |

Well said at the end of the day as long as someones not out of their face clubs will take their money. Legally they are meant to turn d*unks away or stop serving drink to those that become under the weather. AS for the bar tender not being up for it?? Was she not busy doing a job...? |

I had my first visit to After8 for the Xmas party, and left disappointed. It was more like a social, no one was playing. I wasn't expecting anyone to want me, I'd have been happy to just watch.
However, I liked the place and would like to try again on a regular night, and hopefully bring Mr with me. Then I'll decide if it's for me or not. |

I think there is more 'constructive' feedback about all the Scottish clubs but the very tight circle of regulars may put people off from giving the feedback.Any business worth it's salt should wlecome it.
I always believe people should take things up with the management on the night to allow them to put an issue right, then feedback is given to help improve things.

The only thing that is putting us off After8 is the membership fee then the fee to get in plus we would need to get a hotel on top of that so it is alot of money to spent.
I think any club could be hit or miss I think the best way to see it is its a night out with like minded people having a good laugh and drink and if anything sexual happens bonus if not hell at least you have had a good laugh. x |

Yes, I see that in Aberdeen. Being in Dundee it's an hour to Aberdeen, and an hour and a half to Edinburgh. We have so far only been to Aberdeen together and had a lot of fun.
