It's more like a premature ejaculation moment. I hear a 'cold calling' voice and end it quickly.

You do know that these poor people are just trying to earn a living. Often they are young students trying to fund college or Uni.

I used to work in HR in a call centre and would have been furious had a member of staff had to deal with this - they really do take enough crap!

Shy

you're right I do know that, the problem was, I had been running about like a mad man all day and had to get my wee brother to his hospital appointment, ready to leave got the wee mans jacket on and the phone goes and he's trying to sell me insulation through some new government blah blah, which im not actually entitled to anyway (had this call before). When I said thanks but I'm not interested, and dont have the time for the call he got really rude and bitchy and told me I was full of crap.

I take my fair share of crap and then some, and work a lot harder than a cold caller to earn my living

Trust me, he got off lightly with "fuck off"

Well, I know that I don't - and I'm hoping that no-one else does. Both the Telecommunications Act - and how your Mum brought you up should tell you that kind of behaviour isn't acceptable.

As to the presentation of the question - Two question marks - unacceptable. Corrupted punctuation marks to make pictorial smiley face - unacceptable. Notion - unacceptable.

PS - Not at all welcoming / accepting of cold calls - but no need to violate callers.

If only you had paid more attention - and attended some moral / philosophical enquiry classes too! Never mind - you're young - and there's hope...I'd insert a smiley face emoticon here - but I'd rather kill myself! Cheers.

I'm not at all tolerant of cold calls - especially when people tell me that I've won a competition that I didn't enter!

If there's a delay when I lift the 'phone - I hang up.

I know we've all got to earn a living - and much as I'm sure this isn't an easy way - I hate uninvited/unwelcome calls.

My difficulty here is with the OP's notion that there's entertainment to be had in abusing the callers - There isn't.

We both seem to have a healthy enough understanding of the dialogue/dichotomy of these calls - as to the OP - Well, I'm not so sure...

There are 2 types of cold callers the first is the honest ones who say who they are, what they want and politely end the call when told thanks but no thanks. I dont have a problem with them and often have a friendly chat.

The others are the problem you know them the liars are you Mr so and so no sorry our mistake are you the home owner or we have a special offer for you etc. You try and politely tell them your not interested and they either get shirty, continue spouting their script or see you as a syco challange to force their will onto you. Most of them know they're trying to rip you off sometime to the tune of thousands they are the ones that anoy me. If i am not busy I just let go on and hold them up for as long as possible nothing anoys them more than spending time and getting nothing back.

It can be easy to get annoyed but you can get reported for abusive lanuage but not for wasting their time lol.

Happy cold calling

Had to phone a call centre recently, and after speaking to the call handler they advised they'd need to call another call centre, whilst they put me on hold.

So after waiting a good few minutes he gets back to me and says they've got him on hold, I replied, hope the music they've got you listening to is better than the music you've got me listening to.

Also says to him what if the call centre your calling are also on hold to another call centre and so on...are we in a kind of infinite regress, damned to perdition, listening to greensleves, played badly on a out of tune stylophone, for all eternity...he didn't get my point and I had to hang up and call back a day or two later...just sayin' x

I hate cold calling and before anyone says they are just trying to make a living I am fully aware of that!

But as anyone who works shifts and anti social hours will testify too there is nothing worse than getting woken up by someone selling solar panels in winter or PPI! It's hard to be nice to them at this point however I try to be polite!

Feck off rather than Fu**! Joking

It's the recorded ones that really piss me off! Rant over!

Like many others we receive and detest these cold calls.

We received one last week from a company for the 6th time offering everything from a boiler to insulation. I decided fuck it and let them make an appointment for 6.30pm. A man arrived in the pissing rain to whom I said we weren't interested. He said I was a "fuckin timewasters" to which I agreed and said he might now realise how much of our time his company had wasted.

Surprisingly we've never had another call from them.
