Always find these gym posts funny
In the past 10 years or so people have been using these fancy designer gyms with personal trainers and new names for training programmes etc and paying through the nose for them
For nearly 40 years I trained in martial arts and boxing. Especially the boxing I would train 6 nights a week sometimes twice a day the nearer I got to fight night.
Back then we didn't have massive commercial heated buildings with multiple machines etc. Skipping ropes
Heavy bag and hook and jab mitts were the only machines we had
Would run 10k a day 6 days a week, do circuit training in a freezing cold hall and then take a cold shower afterward.
Becoming very cynical in my old age of how spoilt today's gym culture

I don't want to be a boxer though I'm not training to fight only doing the exercise
But I dare say I will be able to throw a mean punch now |

It's not spoiled at all. That's liked saying kids these days are spoiled because they have an inside toilet and hot running water, it's a different age. If you've been training for 40 years I assume at some point you stopped having cold showers and training in a freeing hall? If not would it be reasonable to assume it's because of personal choice?
I think most folk would have no desire to train in a freezing cold hall and have a cold shower afterwards. Each to their own though. |

I'm allergic to the gym. I went and ran around a bit only to find myself wheezing, getting sweaty and red in the face. I noticed others with the same ailment. I'm surprised such unhealthy venues are allowed |

I think some people think you have to not enjoy what you are doing in gym to get something out of it or hang up on old training methods.gyms have turned into a world of science but the only thing im glad has not been binned are lycra on ladies...not the flash dance guys though...thats just as wrong as speedos |
