Social meets - aka a munch

On fetlife they have munches, find a venue, meet up chat have some grub, some drinks, some good banter then head off when you feel like it.
Attended a few and without the music means you can have some good chat meet new people then move on when you fancy it or stay till closing.
Just wondered what people would think of something like that for a social? |

It isn't the will at a social it is the ability. Loud music, dancing etc etc doesn't stop you from chatting but it does impede it somewhat.
Whereas in a quieter setting it is easier - I personally hate trying to talk loudly as my voice has a tendency to go squeaky!

Sociable outgoing people who put in the effort reap the rewards when at a social event. It's very much what you put in and all that

Socials are not for everyone but there's different levels of what people can handle
Meals/food quieter and people can talk...relaxed and informal
Drinks nights..busy but not too busy and not formal and people can come and go
Then full blown socials a bit more formal and for those who like meeting loads at once . |

I like the munches on FL and they usually have a theme of interest which is fun ie a munch/get together for people interested in rope. Stuff like that.
I think doing one on here would work well and I'd come along

Some of the other sites I've used, like SH used Munch, but they were pretty much the socials here. I always just presumed it was a semantics thing.
Big difference there was there was usually a guest list in the forum and name badges. It made it easier to have an idea who you wanted to talk to and you could make a point of saying hi in advance, too. First person I asked about it here gave me dog's abuse and bumped me from the guest list lol |

I tried to go to a FL one years ago but was too scared to go in and kept walking around the block trying to work up some courage.
Now however... totally up for it! Brilliant idea! |

I was doing lunches in fife for a while and I know katy does the dundee lunches...so they been doing the rounds for a while on fab now!!
Always good fun and relaxing way to meet up with folks xx |
