Kilmarnock

Inspired by an earlier thread.

I grew up in a household festooned by paper lanterns, card-trees, nativity set and plastic tree - And I absolutely cannot stand that stuff! At the request of my current squeeze, I'll have a tree - it will be a real tree - not a pretend one, I'll make a point of having nice flowers - I always have flowers - these will just be a little more festive. Cards will not be on display - thoughts? And not just about me being a grumpy middle aged man - that would be too easy!

I get this - my home is very under-stated - colours are Farrow and Ball, lots of wood, glass and ceramics - but I absolutely know that if I had children who would love to see bright lights or a reindeer stampede - I'd set my own taste aside and revel in their joy.

I use the farrow and ball paint. I love the period colours

I have a real tree and every year since the kids were born I have bought two special decorations for the tree. My tree is now full of lovely memories for each decoration. I have a tree in the kitchen too and it's more modern with baubles on it.

I have other things dotted around no tinsel or fake snow but we do have a singing Santa that the kids love

I have a tree that the kids decorated lots of pinks and blues and greens. It's not Co ordinated it's just how they wanted it. My fireplace is all dressed stockings already hung. And we customised a lamp stand with tinsel. Love it xx

We love having the decorations up although it's a bit of a pain in the ass actually putting them up!! We've just redone the whole lounge so god knows where we'll put it all this year but it's getting done this weekend.
