Which hallowe'en do you remember. Was it pumpkins galore or turnip lanterns?

Definitely pumpkins.

Still carve them now for the kids - they like 3 or 4 these days and at least one has to be 'throwing its bloody red guts up'

(Thank god for food colouring lol)

Turnips! Pumpkins are from across the big pond.

"Pumpkins, like other squash, are native to North America."

Take turnip. Slice top off. Make multiple cores using battery drill and 13 mm drill bit then cut between cores with a sharp knife. Break out turnip center.

Carve face in turnip. Pop in tea light.

Turnips.....never saw a pumkin when I was little....don't think they'd been invented....

We always had turnips when I was younger.

Used to get pumpkin for my boy but couldn't get any few years ago so used a honeydew melon, (cut bit at bottom so it could sit) never had pumpkin since always a melon xx when that wee tea light candle is in it , it illuminates xx awesome
