select a venue that is close of hotels or at least a taxi ride away

post for names

a payment method: paypal or cheque but with a cheque you are giving away your name & address, that carries it's own risk

get the money upfront or you may run the risk of not having the money to cover the venue...

I remember a social that was going to be cancelled due to underpayment, I gave the shortfall.

Find out the costs of the hall of a few chosen venues you like.

Buffer costs per head also .

DJ costs and any other expense you might incur . Then decide on how much you need to charge to cover all of those things . Paypal is safest method of payments as it links bank cards to names and can't have a bank account without identification do you know most are genuine . Be prepared for non payers and cancellations as these always happen.

Once all sorted send out mail individually to all paid the day before and ensure its kept discreet amongst people . Those not attending should not know venue details . It'd hard work but worth it when you see a night coming together and folk all having fun . Always stipulate there will be no play at venue. And what's said above . Get a hotel list together of local hotels close by to venue as some people will be coming from afar.

Good luck with your socials xx

I've organised quite a few socials and the hardest thing is getting folks to pay up.You may be lucky to find a venue with free hire.In that case returnable deposit is a good idea.Secures their place and keeps timewasters away.Obviously people's privacy is paramount. Let folks know venue details a day or so before the event.Always make sure they are on Fab too.It can be a pain to organise but well worth it in the end.If I can help with anything please feel free to message me.Good luck.

No idea, I'm lost. Damn Sat nav!

The exact same as everyone above has.

Also my own we tip would be to hotlist everyone as they pay up it just makes them much easier to find when you need to mail them venue details n stuff
