i wouldn't bother with aviemore, there is nothing there, just lots of shops selling the same thing..... wooly jumpers and walking gear. you've got to go to glencoe, that's a must. try the clachaig inn just outside glencoe village, its signed. always live music at night and a right good craic. best wee pub in scotland i reckon. |

Glasgow ish |
Get yourself an island hopper ticket from Cal Mac and get out to Callanish and down the spine of the Western Isles.
Or if your less adventurous.
Start in Fort William, head down to Mull via Lochaline. Take the ferry from Tobermory to the Ardnamurchan peninsula. Drive back via Strontian and Malling. |

Skye would be top of my list.
It's just over an hour from Inverness.
However, if you're coming from down south....I'd come up thru the west coast.
The roads aren't great...but that's only because of all the stunning mountains they have to weave in and out off! The West is BEST!
Skye is drop dead GORGEOUS!!
Check out "The Fairy Pools" and "The Quiraing".
Google it....you'll fall in love. |

As in "take me up the funicular" or the chairlift???? "
The Cairngorm funicular railway is a .......railway. Not a chairlift!

How long have you got? There are some truly beautiful places in Scotland definitely west coast in my opinion but then I'm biased, but it really does depend on time and what you're looking for? |
