In a high brow discussion I had today the topic of being a sex addict came up!
How do you know if your addicted?
Is it because you think about it all the time?
I'm thinking of starting up a support group! |

There is no such thing as sex addiction.
Addictions tend to lead to things that are bad and we can't think of anything bad about sex.
The bigger question is what do they really do in sex rehab ?
Do they fuck you till you can't take no more ?
Fab is your perfect support group anyway plenty of people to chat to & if you slip off the wagon, you don't need to go far in order to get a hit |

"If the support group has a 'hands on' approach I would gladly help boost your numbers "
I think it would be only correct to have a hands on approach with practice demonstrations!
It might not cure anyone but it would be a good night out! |

There really is such a thing and actually it can be just as debilitating as a drinking or drug addiction. It's usually classified when someone's behaviour interferes with 'normal' functioning such as going to work or maintaining relationships. Often behaviours cam become very risky too.
Clinics offer a mix of counselling therapies and things like exercise and diet. They address the root cause of the addiction. |

I went from being hitched to a near nun to dating a genuine sex/orgasm addict for over a year, which was fun for a while. It stopped he from working, whichledto depression etc.I think it stemmed from something that happenned a long time ago |

Addiction exists, the classification of it as a disease is well documented and supported by the World Health Organisation.
It has many "manifestations" sex being one.
It is a hidden stigma that this country as a whole has chosen largely to keep hidden.
It is not the manifest of the action or behavior that makes a person an addict, its a disease, its incurable (at present, the EMCDDA has loads of clinical research into the brain about this) fatal and progressive. There is something within an addict that makes them unable to "control" their manifestation/s that same something can make them prone to obsessive and compulsive behaviours.
The tell tale signs are when the person becomes trapped in obsessive, compulsive, self centered routines, endless loops that lead nowhere but to mental, physical, spiritual and emotional decay.
It exists and is debilitating and probably in the coming years as research from Stanford, Melbourne, Glasgow et al universities all over the world becomes the gold standard for its identification, will be the biggest health risk to the world.
Anyone want to know anymore pm me I would be glad to answer. |

Sorry made a mistake in previous post.
Oh it definitely exists and is sometimes ignored compared to drug users and alcoholics.
As others have said it's linked to some forms of depression/illnesses, look up borderline personality disorder, risky sex can be an issue but how do you get help? It is sometimes frowned upon so what can you do but keep sleeping around.. |

There is help out there, usually the best form of help is self help support groups. SLAA being one.
The social stigma of admitting problematic/addictive behaviours is compounded enormously because of denial, rationalization, substitution, deflecting, medical professionals in this country are woefully inadequate which they won't openly admit and therefore compounding an already pandemic problem. |
