"I have a vintage computer collection from comadore 64 to saga master system and mega drive and a couple of Nintendos "
I'm the same. Just bought a working NES to complete my collection. |

"You know you're old school when you miss having to blow on a game cartridge to get it working." or can go for a shower and your game still hasn't loaded. I gave my son a shot of my original game boy he thought it was broken as it is black and white

I had the Spectrum 48k with the rubber keys and separate tape deck for loading games!
Lost interest in computers for years, but now I'm currently building my own desktop pc from components. |

I started with the ZX81 and worked my way through the Sinclair range from separate tape deck cartridge disc drive and then started working songot pushed to the side.
What about the beginings of actual PC's as we know them, the trusty word processors with a screen that was 2" by 6" which had the built in printer. Or the dot matrix printers.
Quite good on Microsoft excel now since I learned how to use it almost 20 years ago.... |

Yes I had the lot.
If memory serves me right I remember playing ping pong on an old Atari.
The Commodore 64 and then the Amiga were way before their time with their own DOS systems that made them more than just games machines
BBC Basic, MS DOS etc were still light years away and the mainframe at work took up a building on its own.
Microsoft came along and these silly wee things called Windows suddenly dominated your life.
I started building PC's from scratch around 1995 when I "acquired" a copy of Windows 95 and a few bits and bobs of surplus parts in our IT Dept.
My current PC was built in 2003 when PC World told me they didn't stick one with my spec or if I wanted it custom built it would cost approx £3k. Actual fact with the help of those nice guys at Priceless Computing for the parts and my own ingenuity it cost £500 in total to build. Most expensive individual part was Windows XP.
Over the years I have modified it to the point that I'm now wondering if it can be upgraded even more or is it time to buy a new one.
I'm no longer into games etc but when I see the power of the Xbox or PS4 I cringe thinking about my old Atari still sitting in a box with the original cartridges |
