congratulations on Trinadad and Tobago becoming a free and self determining country on this day , breaking free from the evil empire fronted by england , it must be great to be free . Double congrats , you are also a republic , which means you are lucky enough not to have to pay for the upkeep of the english royal family , you possably dont realise just how blessed you are , maby one day Scotland can claim the same freedoms from the south you good people have allready  |

the evil empire is british...we have all profited from our other countries exploits..and to be honest, some of them have profited too...unfortunately, everywhere is rife with greed and corruption.............and that'll be the same in a 'free' Scotland. |

I'm no historian so correct me if I'm wrong, but this "evil empire", was it the English Empire? As I say, I could be wrong, but I always understood it to be the BRITISH Empire.
And Scotland being part of Britain was part of the British Empire. And from what I do know of history, there were many Scots in positions of leadership and power in far flung parts of the Empire, many making considerable fortunes in the process.
To be honest, putting a warped slant on history does you, and the YES campaign, no favours! |

But we had this discussion last week about the 'Empire' and it still hasn't sunk in bothy.
