congratulations on Afghanistan becoming free of the english empire today in 1919. all it took was three wars and the signing of the treaty of Rawalpindi for the uk to promise to not meddle in its affairs again , wonder how that promise turned out

Certainly don't find any evidence of a free and self determining Scotland voting in its own parliament to wage 3 wars in Afghanistan

well since you have brought it up, some countries fight wars for independence and all Scotland has to do is tick a box,

sadly some scots don't even have the courage to do that, they think of themselves and not the whole of Scotland at hand.

There are large swathes of India where it was known as the Scottish empire due to the number of Scots who were involved in running the country. Watched an interesting documentary on it a while back.

well, to answer your question, it was to save time, as the post was bound to get around to it at some point. it was the mention of the 'english empire', the wee words like 'westminster tories and labour warmongerers' and 'independence' and the op's previous posts made me see between the lines. it was the BRITISH EMPIRE, which countless scots, welsh, and irish, had a hand in building.

oh, and thanks, I have all the courage I need

Actually if you do research you will find that list is not the whole list, many other countries could be added to that list; but of course any intelligent person will already know this

I'm pretty sure Belize misses the money generated from Airport camp and the other military outposts dotted about until the nineties. The Falklands aren't going to be rushing away from us either.....

It's a fair point that countries DO want to govern themselves but the Commonwealth games still shows that many countries are happy to continue the connection.....

I'd have thought the Cybernats would have been busy trying to hide the fact John Swinney has been caught out telling porkies and discussions with the Bank of England.

"Swinney: I didn't mean to imply the Bank was negotiating currency union"

Finance Secretary John Swinney has said it was not his intention to give the impression that the Bank of England has been involved in negotiations regarding a currency union with the Scottish Government.
