I was there on Friday to purchase tickets for Bannockburn, you can also purchase them on the day at the gate although if you purchase online before going they have a online purchase queue which is a quicker queue than the one you will have to stand in to purchase tickets.
Obviously people who already have tickets will be straight through.
Dougie Maclean plays Saturday and will be on stage just after 5pm
You will be able to view all the fly-by aircraft from Bannockburn that will be at the armed forces day, their will be the Red Arrows, Lancaster, Spitfire & hurricane as well as Typhoon & Tornado jets, again all can be viewed from Bannockburn.
At night there will be fireworks at the Wallace Monument again these can be viewed from far due to the location
the only downfall of all the events at Stirling is david Cameron is showing face at the Armed forces parade which will be a turn off for everyone. I will make sure my YES campaign badge is well on view
All in All the weekend will be fantastic, it started last night with the parade of pipers and an amazing night and the sound was amazing
If you can find the time it will be worth it and a fantastic day for everyone |

We've just drove past the armed forces site, before they shut the roads!
It's absolute mayhem already guys! Traffic, queues, closed roads, and car parks are already filling up!
Get there as early as you can! Stirling will be a nightmare this afternoon! |

We were at the Armed Forces day with the kids. Was a great day out. Gave a good insight into some of the work they do. Also very humbling to see so many old veterans attending. |

what an amazing day out this was on saturday, we arrived early for bannockburn which was a good move as it was a sell out with tickets and very busy.
We went to the first enactment as 12 and it was fantastic, many mistakes and the horses were a bit startled with the huge crowds but it was most enjoyable and a great day out, we then took a taxi down to armed forces day at 2pm and the heavens opened.
The crowd was not as much fun as at Bannockburn and it seemed a bit of a letdown, possibly due to the rain aswell, watced the air displays, had a few beers then a taxi at 5pm back to bannockburn, it wasnt as busy then, again due to the weather but still a lot of enjoyment.
When we got home we watched the bbc & sky news and could not believe the nonsense reported by both, so obvious that both broadcasters suport "better together" and this campaigning should have been left out of the news.
Went back today for another day at Bannockburn, fantastic again |
