i once picked up an elderly lady .as i was driving she offered me a sweet as she sat in the back seat and it was then i noticed her arms were covered in dark hair and her hands looked very manly..i was so shocked i pulled in at a petrol station which i was very glad to see .i said i needed cigarettes and the toilet. .when i returned she was gone . .but on the back seat was an axe with what looked like blood on the very sharp blade

Two years ago i picked up a few couples, and a very pretty french horse riding chef. Her offer of a coffee after work was too tempting. No sign of an ax, cold shower for a few days though.

Quite often pick up hitch hikers in the Highlands - often Germans or French. Never had any bother and some nice conversations, usually young people doing some traveling and often with interesting stories. Tend to only pick up people with rucksacks or obviously traveling - 'fraid never stopped for those guys holding up a registration plate - I think they have been delivering a car or something.

I used to hitch hike regularly. Was given lifts by a variety of people including single females, a group of females, truckers etc. Never had any hassle.
