It's to be nice again on Saturday so I'm looking for a good sandy beach that isn't to busy to take the kids and the dog. Has to be no more than 2 hours from Glasgow (kids get car sick lol) |

Having stayed in scotland for all my life I know about Largs, Ayr, Saltcoats etc I was looking for something a wee but quieter. Like Arran has some lovely beaches but taking the ferry is expensive with a car. Is there any decent ones heading north up the west coast |

There's a lovely wee Loch (Loch Restil), which from memory has a bit of a beach? at one end and parking at it. just at the top of the Rest and be Thankful A83.
If the weathers good, which its supposed to be it's idyllic, and the dog can run free. |

You cant go wrong with a lot of the beaches in Fife. Aberdour but if nice could be busy. Kinghorn is also really lovely. Agree Elie is beautiful too.
East Lothian also has Gullane, Dunbar both really nice.
Crammond is good for dogs and kids.. take some wellies and check tides so you can walk over to the Island as well. Great bit for bikes/scooters etc. Plus parking and an ice cream van. |

Troon beach which is fantastic and the sand is cleaned everyday by a tractor. You can also walk along to Prestwick.
If they are looking for Shells etc Barassie Beach is best for that. |

Thanks everyone. someone mailed me with an excellent suggestion. It's amazing how many beaches there are but we become creatures of habit and always visit the same place lol |
