Firstly, as has been said, try to identify your trigger(s) and avoid them. In my case it's dehydration, so I'm constantly getting a glass of water (which is why you'll always find me in the gents at clubs and parties).
Secondly, take the painkillers at the first hint of a headache. Don't wait for the migraine to develop; in a lot of sufferers, their digestive system slows right down during an attack, so painkillers will be absorbed very slowly if taken too late. That's why I always have some nurofen on me. |

Agreed apparently take painkillers ten minutes before a migraine stay away from coffee and chocolate anything that contains caffeine but as the above poster said you need to find out what triggers you off |

friend of mine suffered form it until she tried Botox injection …try and ask your Doctor ????
Botulinum toxin is believed to inhibit the release of peripheral nociceptive neurotransmitters, which may then have a knock-on effect on the central pain processing systems that generate migraine headaches. |

I suffer very severe migraines and was always told they would disappear when I reached 40. I've just turned 52 and there's no let-up!!!
The Botox has been said to help some, but in medical studies has been classed as "unproven" so is not available on the NHS It is injected into the neck area for migraine treatment.
Feverfew is a plant which grows easily in the UK, and its leaves are used as a cure for migraine when taken daily over a prolonged period. You can grow your own (make sure it IS a feverfew plant! lol) ir get it in tablet form in a health food shop.
Finally, over the years every specialist I've seen has told me they don't know what causes a migraine, so it's totally trial and error and see if you can find a trigger or something that works for you
Phew! Sorry that was so long, but hopefully helpful...... |
