in relation to a previous post about finding stuff....what's the most money you've ever lost of the strangest or most expensive thing you've ever lost?

im more in the habit of finding things but i think the most notable thing that i can remember losing is a heavy bracelt given to be as a gift from a friend many years ago....i remember being so gutted...not necessarily because it was expensive as it was a gift but more so because of the loss of the centimental value of it i went walking for hours trying to back track where i'd been to see if i could find it...doh!

Us too - I'd bought Kate some diamond and titanium earrings for a birthday and she never took them out. We were playing in a club on a covered playbed and I didn't realise but one fell out. She didn't say anything as it would be on the bed.. She had felt it drop out. Anyway I saw a bloke step in holding a towel and kissed her arm then left the room... Looks like he took the chance to swipe it.

I even offered a no questions asked £200 reward on this site but never seen it again.

Our first ever club trip we stayed in a rather nice hotel and we had been lingerie shopping in the day. Have well over £100 worth of underwear, and receipt in the bag... We left it in the hotel.. And again, "no sir, nothing left in the room".

Found £20 on the floor in a shopping centre last Christmas. Placed in in the Salvation Army tin.

D&K.

bloody tea leafs eh! i had my house ransacked once whilst i was away at work doing a double shift and they nicked over £10k worth of stuff that the insurance company never yet paid out for but what's worse than that is the fact that i lost alot of pics and centimental items that far outweigh the monetary value of the items that were stolen and i dont know who was worse the burgler or the dastardly insurance company who dragged it out for years and employed all manner of sneaky below the belt tactic's to avoid paying out...this is after id been paying my premium to them for close to 10 years with never a claim! hmmm what a very frustrating predicament....for example one of their arguments for not paying out was the fact that i didnt have any pics of the items that were taken...well of course i did have some pics of them but they were on the camera and laptop's that were also stolen...so a bit of a catch22 situation hmmm

My ring. It wasn't expensive, only a simple silver ring, but it was priceless to me. I bought it when I was 16, and it became my talisman, the design was very symbolic. But I caught my hand getting my luggage of a train a couple of years ago and it broke and dropped. Couldn't see it anywhere

I didn't lose it but my ex did, a £1500 engagement ring. She claims she took it off to wash her hands in a pub and forgot to put it back on. She'd only been given it the day before too.

Turns out she was playing about with someone else anyway.

An Amber silver drop earring. Was a 21st birthday present. Have moved my whole flat upside to look at it. Still think I may have sucked it up with the Hoover. Gutted.

I was at the bus stop the other day. My hands in pockets to keep them warm. When I rushed to get in the bus I droped a 20£ note. Only when the bus was taking off I realised I droped it. Looked through the window I saw the Indian guy who works in the take away next to that bus stop picking it up. Was too late and although I was a client at his shop I never dared to tell him and I thought its not worth to bring it up. each time I go to get a take away I remember the 20£ note damned lol. I lost much more precious things before but this one I knew who got it but cant do anything about it
