So no trains from Fife to Edinburgh on Boxing day.
Is this acceptable or do we just accept we have a second rate service?
Imagine if Germany,Holland,Switzerland etc tried this stunt!
Maybe the Bulgarians will bring Train staff who actually want to work.
Enjoy.

Bloody hope Germany don't. Want to get to the Christmas market's.
Seriously I think each government runs differently, we've lived here for 6 yrs
And even if it snows things keep moving.
Hope you manage to get to your destination over Christmas though. |

"I think its great that the staff have time over the festive period to spend with family etc.
If i was running the country id have no shops and a lot more shut as well for at least 2 days
"
agreed. The staff of scotrail have families too and they dederve to have time with them. Lets not be to quick to have a go at them and have a bit of consideration. The world doesnt need to stop cause someone wants to go somewhere. |

Why should everyone else have xmas day and boxing day off except railway staff.?? I'm sensing this is because you need to travel somewhere and you can't by public transport. Unfortunately there will always be people who can't avoid working these days like emergency staff/prison/hospital/ikea staff etc but really, you don't need trains to run. If trains did run then it affects their xmas day too as you can't drink before a shift same as pilots so I personally think you are being very selfish!!! |

As others have said, Scotrail staff are as entitled to holidays at Xmas as most of the rest of us? If you need to get across to Edinburgh I'm sure you're local taxi firm would be delighted to help. |

Ultimate fantasy - Boxing day trains !
Surely Scotland needs to move forward and have 24/7 transport or will Scotland always be a 3rd rate Country.
All the crap about people spending time with their families is total " crap "

Think it's time to take your head out of the clouds. There are no trains in the UK not just Scotland. I deserve my time off same as everyone else making merry .
Oh and if "this is the modern world" then why are you quoting a song from 36 years ago.
You're clearly just wanting to antagonise people with your selfish little argument.
Never mind Santa will be here soon |

Whilst the train drivers and station staff are off for 2 days, spare a thought for the engineering staff who will be working around the clock to complete essential maintenance over Xmas so as not to disrupt the general public at other times |

oh no.... for a whole couple of days places are closed and staff get a few days off.
Get over yourself and stop moaning that people get some time off work. Those of us at the bottom of the food chain work long hours for low pay, so a couple of days off to see our families over the festive season is the only reward we get to look forward to.
If you really want to get somewhere, get a life, buy a car and get your own arse there! |

Think of the medical/emergency services and armed forces who are working over christmas. Do they not deserve time off with their families also? Pisses me off when others cry foul! |

I see a few posts that say people should be allowed to spend time with their families true but at the end of the day it's a public service.
Emergency/health care services, airport/airline workers and other public industries that need staffed 365 days a year don't close.
I think scotrail are a joke if you follow them on twitter anytime something happens it's always someone else's fault ie network rail or their own staff.
First shouldn't have the franchise they have a licence to print money with over dominance on bus routes the traveling public are screwed and need to give then money either way. |

That's maybe due to the fact that we cant "plan" when to have an accident or heart attack.
It would be great if no one took ill or died on the 25th/26th but such is life.
Essential maintenance is carried out over xmas period for a reason.

True you can't plan for that stuff but I'm sure a train company can plan staffing to offer a reduced service. |

The essential maintenance carried out on those 2 days would prevent that.
People have 363 days to plan travel in advance and if it was life or death last minute that required a train from fife to Edinburgh there are taxis, friends.
People make plans when the weather effects services last minute, where there's a will theirs a way. |

This argument can go on forever about the rights and wrongs but at the end of the day there still isn't any trains.
I'm working Xmas day and will be making my own way in without giving a second thought about why there aren't any buses/trains etc so get over yourself and let people enjoy the festive period with their family and stop moaning for the sake of moaning |
