I've had mine in for a while now and there are some pretty severe side effects. Yes you can put on weight, but as said before, you can also lose weight while it's in. The worst ones are headaches and irregular bleeding until it settles down. This can take months, but it does settle down eventually!

I'm glad I got mine fitted, but it does take a lot of time for things to settle down and it was very tempting to get it removed in the first couple of months xxx

my friend had the implant when she turned 18 and then she started having fits,

She had it removed a couple of years later and the fits stopped not proved that it was related to that but it was the only change in her life at the time

P took the pill but was sent into deep depression and gained a lot of weight, the doctor suggested the implant.

After her nasty wond in her arm eventually healed her periods went mental, from a guys point of view she was bleeding all the time, it was every three to four days she would have really hard period pains and the goo that omes with them.

we just gave up with it as it was stopping her having sex, ging swimming, restricting what she could wear and making her feel really para etc.

We have just had a baby boy and our form of contraception is now me having the snip two weeks ago

I have had all those thing including the implant which i had to get took out as it made my acne come out really bad and i did put on weight! but tis all done to the person! I have ended up being on the cooper coil cause they found out everything had too many hormones init and that was making me worse with weight and everything

my sister though as had the implant for a while now and the only thing seems to have done to her is stop her periods but made her put on weight!

I suppose it's bad in the short term but the long term benefits are worth it. But it's all down to the individual whether the posivites outweigh the negatives.

Good luck with whatever you decide but please read up on it first xxx

Hi, I went for the implant about yr or so ago, as Im restricted to contraception due to a hormone thing and liver problem, so went with it, didnt have periods for ages (good), then couldnt stop bleeding!!!! side effects were mood swings (Bob was even considering divorce!!!), so decided to get it removed, left a scar as they couldnt get it out!

So im back on the mini pill, as coil gave me pelvic infection, cant take full pill due to lump on liver!, periods still irregular, not great when trying to arrange meets!!!!

Nonetheless everyone is different and i know of some who love the implant and coil no problems at all, so hope you get sorted, take care.
