When the difficult and dark times come we all have something special which brings us comfort and spurs us on to better days. It can be a song, a quotation, a piece of art, a treasured keepsake.....For me it is a book....
The Prophet by Kalil Gibran and i quote
" When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight."
So friends, where do you find your inspiration...your light at the end of the tunnel to spur you on.... |

Depends on what i need inspiration for, but mostly from reflecting on the fears and challenges which my friends, family and myself have overcome in the past.
Teaches me that its possible to do almost anything.
The way i see it the only way i fail, is to fail to try. |

My dad inspires me he's my hero
Hes had a lot to deal with over the past five years but somehow manages to keep smiling through it all.
He inspired me so much I nominated him for the magazine Take a Break to be put on the throne and his story was published in the magazine |

Another lovely post....with some great replies....
What inspires me. Different things at different times.
Sometimes it's just reading a thread like this. It makes you stop and think.
Anything that makes you stop and think about not only your kids.....but also you parents....because you are their kid....
Often times we are all do caught up in work and relationships and getting the train in the morning or making sure your works up to date..
But like I much more wiser man than me once said...."no one ever lay on their death bed saying I wish I'd spent more time at work"
Like a similar post last night.....it's all about family. Your partner. Your kids. Your siblings. And your parents.
Treasure them. One day part of them will be gone forever. |

It was reading dexter and lilas heartfelt thread last night that brought the book i call "my bible" to mind. Sometimes we need inspiration from an outside source to put life into perspective. In the many years following the loss of my wee boy at the age of four, this is a work ive reached for time and time again for comfort and even strength and ive grown to love it...so here is a little part of what it says about children....
Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They came through you but not from you and though they are with you yet they belong not to you. |

My heroes, people I look up to; they inspire me to continue to stand up for what I feel is right.
Martin Luther King
Mahatma Gandi
Malcom X
Nelson Mandela
Che Guevara
People who stood and fell for what they believed in even though they new it would end in there deaths..... |

And a quote about love....and then i'll stop boring you all with it.....lol.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. |

Thought I share this too after reading it on another site.
In life, you will realise there is a role for everyone you meet, some will test you, some will use you, some will love you,and some will teach you.
But the ones who are truly important are the ones who bring out the best in you.
They are the rare and amazing people who remind you why it's worth it. |

Ofcourse family & close friends will help at life's lowest points. But if we're talking songs, books etc then there is one song that is very special to me. I feel like it is for me alone, I won't listen to it in the company of others. However, I did let one person share it with me.
There is another song, Alright by Pilate that speaks to me now because it describes my life as it is & my thoughts at this time. It helps me, I feel like the pain in the singers voice somehow soothes me. I think this song will always be with me. |

Well I am inspired by a lot of things. The most recent being the way that people put themselves into danger by helping to get the people out of the Clutha pub which the helicopter had crashed into. THe interview with Jim Murphy, the moment James Cook from the BBC pointed out the blood on Jim shirt and Jim said "Its not mine"....the look on his face.
I am inspired by our sporting heros and in particular the para sporting people who show no matter what life throws at you, you can still achieve things.
I am also inspired by Prince William and the injured military people treking to the South Pole, these folk have been to hell and back and now doing this, true guts, physical and mental challenge.
I could list many other things but will stick to things that are related to the past month alone.

Lovely quote.... And heart felt posts are never boring.
They are what takes a forum to a higher level....
So much better than bitching and attacking...

Everyone brings some light to a room.
The good ones when they arrive. The bad ones when they leave...
I think the nice folks on here that have been reading my posts over the last 36 hours will realise for me it's been one of these times in your life that things change.
And I now know that I can make them change for the better or the worse. I have that choice.
And that I am still able to do that.
Family. It's what we have guys. Treasure every one of them.
Hug them. Tell them how much you love them.
And not only your kids. Also your mum and dad.
Thanks to all that have posted. |

I suppose I am inspired by people who do good things, not for recognition or self promotion but just because it is the right thing to do.
People who, regardless of their background, or where they find themselves, have genuine morals and humanity.

This might sound stupid but I like looking to the sky at night when im on a downer, back when i lived in the sticks you could look up and see near enough everything in the sky since there was no light pollution.
Dont know why but it always cheered me up. |

I know exactly what you mean...just the vastness and the stars make you feel part..albeit a tiny part....of something amazing. I always wonder...what IS out there????? |

People who always say " do your best" it's not about being the best or winning, it's about always trying. I try to be the best mum the best wife, daughter sister etc I can't do anything else but try my best |
