given the awful circumstances surrounding this event im fairly confident the families will be compensated no ?

granted it will never make up for the loss of their loved ones but I would be surprised if this wasn't the case

have one of them mate and playeda large part in raising over 10k this year for that cuase , next year we aim to up the ante .

as I said before I hope whatever you do is a rip roaring success and fair play to anyone that makes the time and effort to raise funds for whatever cause they see fit , but if you don't like differing opinions then maybe you shouldn't ask for them ? just a suggestion , all the very best of luck with it all

reading alot about life insurance and more worthy causes a big part of things like this isnt the money its showing those affected that they are cared about raise a pound 50 it still shows you care and that means more than the money count me in

attending a memorial service would show you care

or are you saying that its not important to raise money its the thought that counts but the thought here happens to be raise money ?

no doubt I will be painted as the bad guy and insensitive for voicing an opinion that doesn't conform with the masses , it is a tragic event and the friends and families of those lost or injured have my deepest sympathies . was there a fund raising social for the philpines the other week ? or japan a couple of years back ? just curious

yet again and for the now 3rd time , I hope it goes well and a good amount is raised all the best to those involved

attend the memorial service also if you like as for fundraisers that is up to those who want to organise its not up to anyone to decide which are more worthy thats your choice which to show support for the gentleman has asked if folk would be willing to attend for THIS cause if not for you simply say no if you want to raise funds for other causes make a fundraiser of your own and see if support is there for it

as I have said its only my own personal view point and wish those that want to attend well

We could just go back to the old method of simply giving money to worthwhile causes instead of needing to hang it round an 'event'.

People can easily spend loadsa dosh getting to and from an event, a meal beforehand, drinks, a new frock, an overnight stay and so on.

Perhaps that money could go to the good cause.

I am all for giving help, empathy and care to those in need but I take a backseat at fundraisers like this. What the bereaved is comfort- so we swamp them with money.

I'd rather give my money, and do, to people in serious monetary need, ie, for a crumb of food. H

ok for the last time read this,,,do you want to be part of a fundraiser for those injured and the family's of those who died as you can see I asked do you want to be part of a fundraiser the answers simple yes or no , if its yes thanks for your support if its no cheers that's your personal choice but I don't need a reason why not or an opinion why not to be honest I don't give a toss why you choose not to support it ,,as I say its all about choice and willing so I am no longer willing to listen and read opinions or reasons for no all that matters to me are those who with no agenda no bias are willing to support others in this like we have other causes in the past ,hell knows you might need all our help tomorrow

A wee follow-up story.

XXXXXXXXXXXXX was at the Folk for the Clutha benefit gig in Glasgow where a player of the clairseach - the Celtic harp - told him of being on a late-night train home where a friendly d*unk, spotting his instrument, encouraged him to play a tune.

Reluctantly, and to keep the peace, he began removing the harp from its case. The inebriated traveller got to his feet and declared: "Quiet, please. The harpoonist's gonnae gie us a tune."

hi folks, just an update ,,,as you may notice every day on the forum social meets.partys.valentine socials , stirling socials ,ayr socials are taking place and its felt many people cant afford to attend all or any other than those they would otherwise attend ,so a decision has been made to defer this fundraiser till the anniversary of the tragedy as a way of remembering those who were killed in an apt manner ,and also provide time for those attending to lay aside a few extra pounds so they can attend ,my thanks to all who offered to help and I hope I still have your help later on we just couldn't find a suitable date that did not clash with other socials and wanted to be fair to those folk who month after month arrange socials for all to attend ,,,cheers

"A Folk for the Clutha event earlier tonight raised about £1400 and it's all happening again tomorrow.

That's now over £1500. The Folk for the Clutha event is on again tonight. Same time and place. No tickets required. Donations on the door.

Details on STV website.

The total for both Folk for the Clutha nights is £3,455.78."

The money has now been distributed as promised.

Cheques of £838.24 to Paul Connolly, vice-chair of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Family Support Trust, which was established in 1923 and is the oldest Fire and Rescue charity in the UK and to Graham Ednie, Chairperson of the Scottish Police Benevolent Fund, the official charity of the Police Service of Scotland.

The Scottish Ambulance Service Benevolent Fund and the City of Glasgow Clutha Appeal are the other two benefactors.

Thanks to all who helped.

I'm sure Fabsters will be pleased to hear that the Clutha Trust has been accepted by OSCR as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

Plans for an event on the anniversary are well under way.

Am i the only one who thinks this fundraising has got out of hand ?

By all account substantial damages will be paid surely the memory would be better served than lining already full pockets.

You don't solve bereavement by throwing money at them much better ways to commemorate those lost and those left behind.

Don't be shitting me with the human kindness spiel.

Don't dare lecture me on solving bereavement!!!!! I could write a book.....NOTHING brings back a loved one but at least financial worries can be lessened. 'Throwing money at them'? What a sad attitude....

"CLUTHA victims may have to wait two years for compensation payments.

Legal wrangles between police helicopter owners Bond Air Services and lawyers acting for the victims over issues such as medical reports are delaying payments.

Several victims have received interim payments to cover loss of earnings and medical treatments but the majority have not received a penny since last November’s tragedy."
