Proposals to claw back some cash with the introduction of charging foreign nationals and so called health tourists.

Good idea or bad or just more red tape ?

Personally I believe that we should have the right to opt out of paying for nhs if you wish to pay for private health insurance.

Too many freeloaders in the uk

"Too many freeloaders in the uk "

Surely the government realised the burden when they opened the borders to all and sundry.

Walk into any A&E and you will be hard pressed to find someone who speaks your lingo.

Course they maybe UK nationals but id suspect a fair percentage jumped on a cheap flight from various EU destinations.

EU destinations and beyond . Tall to ex-pats just about anywhere and most will admit they jump on a plane home for medical treatment. All perfectly legal.

It may be they don't qualify for free NHS dental treatment and can't afford private dental treatment.

Re Poland. Is it my imagination or are there a lot of Polish dental nurses working in the UK?

Not just dental nurses _nny the biggest sector is private health care and care homes.

My local coffee shop has 1 lithuanian, 1 french and 1 spanish girl working their and they welcome the fact that they can just jump on a bus to the doctors or hospital for healthcare.

I'm not sure on what their "actual" contibution is in the way of NI contributions but rave about the NHS.

The problem with restricting EU nationals access to free treatment is that there are reciprocal arrangements, and if this were to be introduced here, your EH111 card would become useless overnight, meaning UK citizens having to pay for any treatment when travelling.

This whole thing stinks of the Daily Mail propaganda department. Recent DWP and NHS figures show that Benefit and Health "tourism" claims have been exaggerated by elements of the media.

In this case in don't believe it's being exaggerated by the daily fascist mail, I know for a fact that many illegal non eu migrants , receive free treatment , as doctors don't believe in limiting any treatment !

Should treatment be linked to your Nat ins No ? No NI number no treatment ?

Re E111, have you ever had the misfortune to be in a Greek hospital ? If you need anything it's do it yourself or pay doctor / consultant / nurse direct !

This attitude makes me vomit......

A society can be judged by how it treats it poorest people.....

I have private medical, I pay the highest level of tax..... I would pay more to ensure education, medical care and the elderly were taken care of....

Our national health service is one of the greatest systems ever devised....it needs to move with the times not be overhauled, it is a myth that people come here from abroad to live of our services, they come here work and contribute greatly to our society.

Many of the freeloaders in this country went to eaton and are paid a fortune....

Check the figures, during the worst economic disaster in one hundred years, the richest 5% has got richer, while the rest of us have got poorer, yet they succeed in convincing some it is down to freeloaders......

The greatest trick the devil pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist....

I beleive there have also been complaints about Spain refusing to treat other EU nationals.

I'd rather live in a country where doctors see a patient needing treatment before they check your wallet.

I don't know if or how true the above examples are but maybe the answer is to avoid Greece and Spain.

Neither has much to offer anyway.

I was in the Royal Infimary in Glasgow one Friday night recently for my sins... There were no foreigners, but the amount of junkies, druggies and jakies in there was shocking. I could barely understand a word of what they were saying and they had a cheek to moan about the NHS when they were sat there waiting for treatment. Now I'm not posh, was brought up in Springburn, have stayed in Possil, Govan and the likes, but Jesus wept man, at least try to

Show respect to people who are treating you and not abuse them.
