this might be a bit of fun or maybe not but thought it would be fun if we could post some scottish slang words. Me being on the west coast i am familier with the ayrshire and glasgow based slang but i am interested to find out what other slang is used in other parts of scotland.

These aren't so much slang words, more colloquialisms and dialects the history of some of these is very interesting (but that's for a school night!).
Having worked the length and breadth of our fair country, there seems to be an apparent overlap of phrases with various connotations.
Gadgee has been taken to mean anything from Dirty, Unclean, to someone who is lucky.
The north east does take some beating as not only do they have their own vocabulary, even their English is hard to understand.
With:
Loons = Boys
Quines = Girls
Feel = Stupid / silly
Spot the difference in these 2 sentences:
Fa's yir loon?
Far's yir loon?
Who is your boy or fella?
Where is your boy or fella?
It can be said with confidence though, that dialects and colloquialisms for sex are understand countrywide, thank fuck! |

My favourites have to be Glaswegian:
Gobble = Blow Job

Blert = To ejaculate

A classic phrase I love is refering to the size of a womans nipples:

Slice = square sausage as in 'a roll n slice'
