It had lain for almost 6 months. It's hard to imagine one more post tipped it over the 'political' borderline.

John Swindle (Scottish 'chancellor') has the opportunity and the money to fix this in Scotland this afternoon.

Will he do it?

York Uni survey suggests many people who've moved from a 2 bed housing assoc property have ended in a 1 bed private landlord flat - at a higher rent.

The UK govt don't see it as a mess so it's unlikely they'll do anything to fix it.

Swindle agrees its a mess and has the money to fix it but won't do so.

One has to ask why not.

thats because the DWP set a maximum limit that can be allocated to discretionary housing payments, westminster would need to agree to increase the limit.

But they are too busy arranging pub opening times for the world cup #priorities

Reserved matter, legally cannot fix it properly without Indy. Best we can do is mitigate with the new funding that's been made available (today), some already been helping people to date. Also banks heavily in the UK Gvt agreeing to raise the cap on what the Scottish Gvt can use to 'shore up' folks payments.

Dont even think the £15m from today can be used.

limit is £35m and there is already £15m from westminster & £20m from holyrood.

would need westminster to authorise DWP to increase the limit.

Money has been used already I believe. N Ireland had a similar issue and DWP raised their limit. So no reason not to now in our case...though NI aren't going for Independence.
