Here is the best answer I found to the end
If you act like prey you will become preyed upon. He leads Kanta through the lions because he in not afraid and believes if he does not act like prey he will be fine.
It's supposed to be symbolic of neds I think. Act like prey and neds will mess you up but if you prove you're not then they won't.
And I guess maybe it was trying to show that John had reformed by him leading Kanta through the lions but it was a messed up ending...make of it what you will |

"Thnx zzz it's a good point u make your probs right by saying make of it as u will ? It sort of spoils the film a wee bit " I would say the hole point of the end is to make you think.
