Hi all,
I'm heading down to the Ayr social this weekend, and thought it would be fun to organise a Highland "gathering" In Inverness around Easter time 
Seems that soooo many folks think that travelling up the A9 is almost like heading to the North Pole! lol Honest, we do have running water and mains electricity up this neck of the woods ... 
Dependant on numbers/interest I'd be happy to sort something out ... all welcome of course 
Will play it by ear and see if enough interest ...

Already organised a Highland Fling in March outside of Inverness near Nairn.
Came across this forum thread after organising it. We have held it for about 5 years now and found that most couples come from south of where the party is. This time i am glad to say that there are more couples from the local area that are wanting to attend and join in the fun. |

Okie dokie guys, have a wee plan in the making ... Have spoken to a hotel today, and they are free on the 10th april - they have 27 rooms and are located just outside Inverness in one of the most beautiful places in the world
I'm meeting the Director over the weekend to try and arrange a block booking venue/room deal, but to do this would appreciate your views and if you would been keen for this type of social event ??
I used to DJ about a million years ago, and know some dudes that would lay on a fantastic party night with heaps of games and capers ...
Obviously there would be a cost to this, and would appreciate your thoughts/comments ...
Alternatively I could go for the cheap and cheerful option?

Update on hotel options:
Rightio, the hotel director got back to me today with this email showing prices:
"Hi Gary,
Good to speak to you today:
We are able to quote for a proposed charity get- together for 60 to 80 persons.
Dinner Bed and breakfast would be £52 per person per night sharing a double or twin room , with a £10 Single Supplement
Dinner only would be £25 per person
if numbers for dinner were over the 60 we would provide a disco free of charge.
The dinner would be high quality table d'hote . if you would like to go ahead to book we can discuss menus etc."
They have 24 of their 27 rooms available on 10th April. Really need some feedback on this to allow booking to go ahead ... Comments/thoughs please?
Oh, and just one more thing ... Have the perfect hangover cure for the sunday too - can get discounted tickets for a short return cruise along Loch Ness, complete with enrty in Urquhart Castle on the shores of the Loch at Drumnadrochit - they have a very new visitor centre built into the side of the hill above the castle, run by Historic Scotland - complete with its own wee movie theatre showing a short film at the end of the tour totally dependant on numbers, as again your views would be greatly appreciated
Still looking around for a decent cheap and cheerful venue, which would be likely to be located in the city centre, so may not be so appropriate for our needs lol will post something on this shortly...

Alrighty everyone, sorry for the delay in getting back to y'all ... been working away for a few days. Anyhoo, had some really great feedback, and kind comments, and the general opinion is that cheap and cheerful is the way to go forward ... To that end, Can I flag up the possibility of a bit of a piss up? lol As it happens, Elgin, a fine wee town has a great night out on a Saturday (loads of RAF lads for all you ladies oot there )
Would you guys be up for a bit of a pub crawl in Elgin on 10th April? Would be most splendid for a heap of cool swingers to show them all how to have a good night out!!! lol

About your night out in Elgin, all the main pubs are on the high street. The popular ones are the Muckle Cross (wetherspoons owned)at one end of the high street then down to the other end you have the Grannary and Cooperage,across the lane from the night club Joanna's you have Dicey Rielies. As for Hotels there is the travel lodge, cheap and cheerful on the outskirts of town, 1 mile from high street. There are more expensive hotels but reasonable like the Laichmoray which is across the road from the train station. |

Rightio, have had loads of feeback and suggestions - many thanks for all the emails It does seem that Inverness is a whole lot easier for the majority to get too, ans is clearly a lot bigger than Elgin, with many more hotels available and many more pubs/clubs - loads with really cool live bands playin Also close to airport (10 mins) and on main train/bus routes (both stations right in the City Centre).
Will now post a new thread so that all interested parties can note interest and to confirm all details (this one is too long now and a bit all over the place! lol)
Any interested folks please post on new thread - ticket details and all relevant infor will be there from now on.
