Why do people say meet today, when they mean meet tonight????" Makes you think what they mean when they say anything else.

Maybe because the site 'Meet Today' function says just that!

And isn't 'tonight' still on the same day?

Possibly because it’ll still be today until midnight, then it will become tomorrow.
