"Is going on with the Forum? When I first joined nearly 3 years ago, I used to get a good giggle at most of the threads in the forum. Regrettably, in the last few months, I have noticed more irritation, vindictive sniping and "look at me" threads than happy, fun threads. Even the ones that start out as happy, fun, silly threads get hijacked by the snippy brigade. There are a few stalwarts who inject some sense and fun back in, but over all, it's getting really dire. Come on Fabsters, get back to fun, laughter and, if you have to, reasoned debate and stop the sniping, bitching and back stabbing. We are, after all, all grown ups - allegedly!!! If people are not nice, and enjoy putting others down, your threat isn't going to change their character- which I'm sure isn't your intention. It's a nice idea, to take a post out like this or to spread the love, but maybe another thing that might be an idea is that if some of us see someone getting an unfair hard time to step in and say something? Not really to get involved but a few objective words. Forum abuse might be like witnessing a crime in the street. Seeing it, doing nothing then complaining about it afterwards. (I know you can ignore and it's just a screen etc) I'm not asking for help for me, but when I do get it, it does mean a lot, that a total stranger is prepared to go against a lot of others and speak out, which the op has done for me. (thanks again!!) I don't want to go to any socials etc. I like the fact that it's only people I meet for 121s that know what I look like. I'm sure if some people meet me they might be less quick for digs. Similarly, I have supported some people that I have met on here and other people I've not met. I know the forums should be about fun but I don't take part in, morning roll calls etc. I'd rather talk about other things and have less clinical debates that haven't been done to death lots of times before. Unless you know someone having met them either 1-1 or at socials, you have no idea what that person is like or how they talk. I will admit, I've only been abusive just once. I never used the report button when I first joined - just lack of experience. I did lose my temper with one guy who had a slight dig but it was like the straw that broke the camels back. Even with someone who can be abusive, sometimes we might not see the background of it or how much someone is provoked.
Anyway, lesson learned. Use the report button. Second lesson, correct someone once then keep a dignified silence.
As long as there is a core group or a few people with manners and respect, then it might make the forums worthwhile regardless of the others and the moral police. | |||

Feel it would be better if folk just stuck to threads there interested in, rather than commenting on everything just for the sake of it. Seriously....just like we need night and day, so do we need good and bad. examples of bad show us wot we dont want to be like and to feel sorry for those that hurt inside and feel the need to share that hurt. It give us an opportunity to reflect on ourselves on a daily basis....and hopeful seek self improvement. Like "Love and Hate", Sun and Moon, Light and Dark, angels and demons, summer and winter.....we always need both in our lives. (do I sound like Obi wan Kenobi or more like Yoda.....He is at least green)
