FABSWINGERS DOCUMENTARY
Jump to: Newest in thread
For several year I've had the idea to do something of a documentary relating to fabswingers & the experience's & stories folks have had on here....so alas how does one go about such things & attempt to get the ball rolling? I guess initially id possibly require a team of individuals to offer their services in terms of technical expertise in the film/documentary making process...also possibly someone with the relevant equipment & editing software & of course we would need willing participants to volunteer their unique experience's/stories on cam (I guess this could be done in an anonymous capacity with blurred faces & changed names/voices etc) maybe we could even do some filming at a few various types of meets or parties... This is me just putting the feelers out to see what others thought & if anyone else thought it would be a good idea or if they had any ideas to add to the mix or possibly if your interested im getting involved in some capacity...please state your thoughts below;-) |

"Forget one-off documentary. How bout ten half hour episodes like Airport....always with a nail biting high drama in each episode...? lol." I was also considering a mini series for YouTube...and if it was at all possible to make any money from the venture then I could possibly use it host events/parties that we could in turn partially film for online content...maybe even do a lucky draw every month to pay for someone having gold/silver membership on fab for a month or so...I wonder if fabswingers would endorse the venture & offer further incentives...after all it would be in their best interest as it would be promoted & growing the site & making it more interactive & exciting...of course this wouldnt be for everyone so im expecting some negative criticisms ...but hey different strokes for different folks eh |

Some people have realy short memories on this site

some will remember hiding profiles removing pics etc
so why a documentary ??
each to thier own i suppose
would sugest any one taking part in this thinks long and hard before getting involved |

Thanks for sharing your thoughts...if you meant to imply that my memory didnt serve me well enough to remember the carry on with the masquerade ball & the subsequent broadsheet expose' well then you would be mistaken...how could I forget the inconvenience of having planned for it for over 6 months & all the time & money that I & many others lost in the process...not only from the ticket price (which was never returned to everyone) but also from having booked hotels & paid for outfits/masks etc ...ach well such is life & these things do happen...but like I stated in the above post...im well aware that this wouldnt be everyones cup of tea so im not expecting but a small percentage of brave souls to come forward to bear all in more ways than one & of course I did mention that for the discretion conscious amongst us im sure it would easily be possible to change names/voices & blurr faces etc.... At the end of the day what we're doing on here is completely natural by my reckoning & it's not against the law so why mot challenge the negative stereotype/taboo of it all? Lets get chins wagging ...bad publicity is good publicity at the end of the day..education is the key to fight ignorance wouldnt you agree? "Some people have realy short memories on this site

"Can't be good, surely the less media attention the better.
Filming could turn out to be fun though lol" who said anything about media attention...im not hoping to do it for that as such as much as the hope of sharing some experience's & the swinging lifestyles with others...the less people who know about swinging then the worse off fab is gonna be lol im not looking to have it on tv as such...only on YouTube |

Making and distributing a documentary is hard work, Nake. Not that I'm saying you couldn't handle it, however, you need to know why you're doing it and for which audience.
If it's to be a little confidential extra to supplement life on the Fab site, then I'd say you were preaching to the converted. If you're looking to smash the stereotypes and reach out to vanilla peeps who may fancy giving it a try - then you could post it on a blog (You Tube would ban it as soon as they discovered it). You'd have to find a way to advertise it though.
You'd also have to consider your contributers. They might say they'd be happy to appear and tell all etc, but then change their mind once they know it's going to be aired... Peoples lives change, as do jobs and circumstances etc. That could muck you up.
It's all do able though. Depends on how determined you are.
Good luck. |

Thanks for the indepth input...it's much appreciated...I'll take it on board...im initially looking to have it on YouTube so it would have to be done in such a manner whereby it's somewhat tasteful & within the rules & regulations of YouTube ...which leaves some room to manoeuvre as you should see some of the hardcore content on there as it is! Haha I fully get what your saying about pieces lives changing so ample consideration will be put into who would make the final cut if they opt not to conceal their identity...it would have to someone who was a seriously hardened swinger who was open about it & not appossed to having others know of their existence within the swinging world...some might even relish the attention im sureit's all in the name of fun & education anyways & im determined to do it one way or another watch this space "Making and distributing a documentary is hard work, Nake. It's an interesting idea, but I hope that's all it remains, just an idea and that it doesn't take off.
We see time and time again on here of people not behaving well: name calling, general abuse, holding onto resentments and previous disagreements and casting up at every chance they get.
If you get people with a similar mentality in the same room at the same time, I would suggest that it could put some decent folk off who see it, from entering the playing world.
I've often found that the most successful, genuine and nice, people on here are the only who actually play and are not that interested in sitting around talking about it. And they are always the most discreet too.
I've been told by other members that they thought after the sunday mail expose that the timewasters on here increased. I think if people want to play or swing, then they should find ways themselves to enter our world (by a google search?) rather than us bringing it to them.
In addition, if you get people who would be up for talking about it, there would be a danger that you might get people who do not meet much, but might consider themselves 'hardened swingers' and be the type only to sit and do hardly anything, swinging wise, but just be the type who sits, judges, criticizes others, often when other people's interests doesn't concern them or affect them.
Any kind of documentary would only give people a channel to air their venom and previous resentments and leave those not taking part a chance not being able to defend themselves.
(I do have family who work within the television industry and have all sorts of video equipment. If some people didn't have such a bad attitude, I'd be willing to help, but that's not going to happen) |

I make documentaries all be it for radio
Toyed with the idea of seeking to make a radio doc on swinging.
To be honest as fun as it would be making it who would buy it. Don't see Radio four putting it on after the archers! Also I was on this site when certain print media started a campaign of name and shame. Would rather leave it alone. God knows we don't want to become media fashionable again |
