I stayed in benbecula for a good few years, it's beautiful!
There was an army base there, as far as I'm aware this has been sold off bit by bit so very little forces up there. I think they still fire missiles from st kilda.
Not sure how much swinging there would be??? Very small place with plenty knowing your business lol

the base is still there but civilian and rocket testing only at range 
all the beaches as mentioned earlier on this post are pure white the further you go into harris an lewis - luskentyre and horagabost on herris best and traigh mhor and dal mhor on lewis best
