It's really just about using up more calories than you take in. That means though that when it comes to losing weight that it's about 80% diet and 20% exercise in terms of what helps shift the pounds. |

Exercise does not always involve gym time, there is a walkway on that big bridge, good for a wee run to fife and back.
Stairs, hill climbs and of course CV circuits in green places help.
good luck |

If you can afford it, see a personal trainer, at the gym.
There are exercise classes too in lots of gyms.
Sometimes one has to eat more to lose weight, so there's enough energy for exercising. It's about combing eating the 'right' things and exercising.
But if you want a beach body etc, do it for you, and you only. If people can't accept you for who you are it's their loss.
Good luck. |

Try the crack cocaine/heroin diet plan and the pounds are garuanteed to drop off ya & out of your bank balance and your weight will be the last thing your concerned with as the drug takes a grip of your life & takes you on a downward spiral nb disclaimer: not recommended by the health association as it can be bad for your health! |

Yoga or dance will help lengthen your muscles, weights will strengthen them but shorten then.
Best cardio/weight loss advice I got from a boot camp was a slow/fast combo. Use a cross trainer, bike or treadmill ect. Start at a walk for 5 mins (this is after your warm up) then for 30 secs go as fast as you can then 5 mins walk do this 3 times first day then 5 times the next. Then do 5 mins walk 1 min fast repeat 5 times.
Then just mix it up, some 30 fast some 1 min fast, try to make your slow get faster as you progress. Also decrease your slow times down from 5 mins to 4 to 3 ect.
You can do the same going for a walk. |

Thanks for the ideas, not really a gym person, so gonna try mix it up, walk, jog, running, swimming, etc. Maybe even go ice skating. Every little helps.
Done some cardio and box exercises tonight to get started. |

Well done to both of you. I only seem to loose weight if I either stop eating carbs or if I exercise.
I'd rather exercise than deny myself bread and pasta. |

The more you sweat the more you lose. Running at slow pace for few miles every second day or every day if u have the courage to do that you'll have amazing results and healthy heart. very simple and no complicated techniques |

Hard work and watch the diet is the only way to shift it. There are no quick fixes.
Pick a training program and stick to it.
HIIT works wonders and there are loads of different ways to do it without going to a gym.
Why not try tabata training? 4 minutes of hell (or 8, 12, 16, etc. depending on how many sets you want to do) but works wonders.
Diet isn't really rocket science.
Calorie deficit equals weight loss.
Calorie surplus equals weight gain.
Drop 500 calories a day from your diet and you'll be 3500 less a week which just happens to be the same amount that's in 1 pound of fat.
Oh, and stick to it even on the days you're so pissed off with it you just can't be bothered.
Good luck. |

Yeah my diet isn't that bad, if only I was able to lay off the chocolate when it's totm and eat better when out for meals and socialising not drinking as much.
It's not alot of weight I want to loose so I'll try the exercise route first. |

There's been a lot of info about the fasting diet (Horizon, Sunday Times etc)
It basically works on the principle that you fast for 2 days a week (not necc together) and on the other days you eat normally. On the 'normal' days you won't eat extra to make up for the days you've fasted. (Or cut down to 600 cal)
I began doing this - and it worked for me - It made me actually more conscious of what I ate - and I actively seeked out a healthier diet in general.
I've lost about 5 stones in under a year, no longer ache, feel MUCH more energetic
It won't feel right for everyone, but I can never keep to 'diets' for long - this way- If I want something - to hell with it - I'll fast tomorrow! (Or stick to soup!)
You should do some googling on it - find out some info and see what you think..

Thanks I've done loads of diets in the past, though can never stick to them, faddy things don't work for me, I'll just need to remember this winter to get my ass off the sofa more often and not snack the whole way through Xmas to Easter. Well done on 5 stones off that's amazing. |
