i would say it was one of the best movies ever to come out of scotland, at that time

Id go with local hero or restless natives. Watching fulton mackay completely outclass burt lancaster is epic. LH is somwhat deeper using the phone box as a metaphor for human connection, the happiest man in the whole film is the hermit on the beach vs the unhappiest who is the billionaire oil baron etc. RN is just plain daftness.
