Not really wanting to share any particular details due to it being a family matter, but I'm looking for any advice anyone can give regarding an alcoholic in my family please? He has admitted he has a problem, but it has become so bad he completely reliant on it. He frequently injures himself due to falling over. He urinates and defecates himself when d*unk, and also over parts of the house. He needs help but I've no idea where to go or how to get him the help he needs! |

I myself am and alcoholic and been in recovery for almost two years now firstly very brave of the individual to accept they have a problem thats a start.
Next you need to find somewhere relatable to the person that they can go , stepping through the doors of an AA meeting can be daunting but if the mind is open it won't be as daunting as first thought , I feel the pain but listening to other peoples experience , strength and hope can be a turning point in thinking "its not just me , theres others" hearing just one thing to get identification from can be the thing that takes you to next meeting.
Can dm anytime |

The unfortunate truth is you can’t help someone that does not want to help themselves. Of course you can support them, advise them and guide them but they won’t seek help until they are ready to.
Any type of addiction and the ripple effect it has on the family is horrible. I hope the person finds their way to help soon
